I bought som zmax today hopefully it works wonders, but if it dont I will be getting some auto RX. Anyone eer had luck with zmax?

I am getting a lot of transmission noise, im not sure if its normal or not but seems a lot louder than the old truck of mine. What fluid do you all run? I do have the lucky mod.

I plan on taking off all the running boards to, whats yalls opinions on that? Personally I think it would look better, still trying to get use to it not being real high off the ground.

I plan on tackling the big ole oil leaks on it. I hope its the valve covers, but its looking a little worse than that, on the passenger side I have oil running down the inside frame rail all the way to the tail pipe. The oil from what I can see is coming from above the manifolds which makes me think valve covers, but idk because of the amount of it.

Valve covers can leak huge amounts of oil if shaken loose enough. Try just tightening the valve cover bolts. That has done wonders for me before.

take off your fuel filter and pour out the diesel, then fill her back up with transmission fluid. run that through the ip and see if that frees up the sticking gov.

Took a small trip about 60 miles there and back, sucked up like 1/4 tank of fuel, still smokes a lot. I am saving up for injectors, until then I plan on using some more fuel additives to help remedy the smoke so I can start driving it daily.

theres two things that i believe in adding to my fuel. when i think that its time for a dose of additive i use seafoam as a cleaner to the system and automatic trans fluid for a lubrication (and it also cleans too). i pour the seafoam in the fuel filter and trans fluid in the tank, but it doesnt hurt to run pure trans fluid through the filter ether. ive had good results adding seafoam to my fuel and the seafoam for transmissions is a miracle worker also. for best results on injectors and ip is to put seafoam in the fuel filter and run the engine for about 10 to 15 seconds and shut it off. let the truck sit and marinate for about 30min to an hour, then go drive it like you stole it.

i remember when i first bought my truck i went on a 3hr trip (one way) and it took me 1- 1/4 tank of fuel to reach my destination. by the time i got there i was sick to my stomach as to how much it had used, because my yukon used to take a litle over a half and i thought that was rediculous. when i came back from my trip i ran several cans of seafoam and set my timing with a meter that i purchased off ebay. me and my family just made the same trip for the thanksgiving holidays and my truck only burned a 1/2 tank of fuel one way. let me just say i felt a lot different about my truck lol.

Well I went out today since it was around 35-40 out today and it started right up. I tried it by waiting for the WTS to go out and started right up, then done it without waiting and it didnt want to start. Wonder if I am not getting juice to all 8 injectors?

i know in mine all 8 plugs are good. i cant go by the wts light because the light goes out too early and the plugs are not heated up enough. i watch the volt meter and as soon as the gauge flicks you can hear the controler click and its time to start. my truck normaly doesnt make a 1/2 turn and shes running.

I'd say if you wait for the WTS light to go out normally that is long enough, but jtate is right they often do continue cycling after that. If it will start easy with a normal 8-10 second burn at 35-40 degrees all is well interms of major engine issues and I think you got your bad glow plug replaces as well. Having said that I wonder if you don't have a timing issue. That's about like my truck ran when I had it too far advanced not only on the pump timing but gear timing as well. A crappy time to be saying this with it being Christmas and all but I think you need to find someone with a tming meter. I know in Ohio sle215 has one but if he'd be willing to help or if you are close geographically I do not know. I'm guessing check timing first and if that doesn't fix it you need some new injectors.

if its shaking when you first start it up cold, i would say you have a leaking injector or maybe more. i have a timing meter and ive put my timing in several differnt places and its never shaken on start up until i had a leaking injector.

I completly forgot I had some old 6.9 injectors up in the top of the garage, I been soaking them to clean them up. I got all four in the driver side changed, I do believe the one all the way in the back was not working right. I did however reuse the return lines only until I can afford to buy injectors from Russ.

When I was cranking to bleed the lines and once it started it up it sounded real good, no miss or anything. Once I shut it off and started it back the miss came back. Leaking return lines maybe?

I plan on doing the other side (the hard side) tomorrow and see how it goes.

There is still a considerable amount of smoke but I know its burning oil. I took the CDR out again and its filled again, so is there a way to check for a bad one? Where can I go to buy a new CDR?

I drove the hell out of it today and after running a while and it only smokes when at idle, it dont smoke at all under acceleration.

Where can I buy new lights for my hips?

Congrats! 92 CC duallys are cool! (yeah I'm a little biased). That thing sounds rough, and the smoke is too much! Throw some injectors at that thing and I think you'll be fine.

Does it run rough all the time? Or is it only immediately after startup? My brown truck runs like a rail car for about 10 seconds because of a leaking holley fuel regulator. The thing is brand new and I cant get it to stop leaking. :(
If it runs rough all the time then yea its time to do a compression test and probably replace the injectors and injection pump. The smoke at idle is probably excess blowby. Run the auto rx and see if it helps at all. Sometimes it does, others it can actually make it worse.
