One day I want to put a mechanical dt466 or an 8.3 Cummins in a bricknose @Nero aren’t you a medium duty tech? Which do you like working on more?

This the same reason I like spending money and effort on them.

If OP is just looking for an engine that you slap some upgrades on and it puts down good power then he should build a fummins
Yeah I was hoping you wouldn't say thay but you're probably right. It's whatever, I can live with my 180 ish hp. It's just a work truck anyways.

Heavy duty mostly, but can do medium. I personally prefer Cummins over any other manufacturer, especially when it comes to newer engines. Sorry Cat, you left the OTR industry years ago!

Want a little extra oomph, give the IP a couple flats. Keep your foot out of it and you won’t melt anything. Install a pyro and then you’ll know just how much you can push it.

I don’t have a pyro, but I only gave it 1 1/2 flats and I do NOT pull with it. I also don’t keep it on the floor anymore. It runs so much better now.

Personally I couldn't. A simple turbo will wake these engines up incredibly even at 7 psi of boost.
It makes the truck way more drive able.
It is not cheap to make big power out a idi, as someone who has been there and done it

110cc, stage 1 injectors, stage 1 turbo, intercooler, south bend clutch, cam, valve springs, studs, custom intake manifold, water m3th, cold air intake etc

But I still recommend turboing any idi

I've seen YouTube vids of dt360's dropped in before. Pretty neat.

I read the build thread several years ago but it couldn't remember for sure which engine it was.

I’m not familiar with the dt360 can someone enlighten me as to why it’s a worthy swap?

It's a straight six that was made as a competitor to the 5.9 Cummins, does about 170-190hp. Mostly used in farm/industrial equipment.
