Block heater question

The side that goes to the block is special the plug at the end is the same as any other grounded extension cord.

Oh and the 83,and most 84s had a casting defect that made using the block heater a bad idea, some very early 85s may have the bad casting as well. If you do a search you can find out if your block is good to go by serial number. They corrected the casting defect at a certain serial # point, that info should be on here somewhere.

i think that was on the 83-84 blocks that were thinner were the heater was it would crack. Yours should be alright to use.

Is the '85 a thicker block? Mine was manufactured 01/85. I've been using the block heater on the colder nights here just to aide the starting in the mornings, and haven't had any issues yet, but I'd only had the truck a short time.

I got a new cord from LMC for about $12 . Just put it on today.
