BHAF mod

Has anyone ditched the stock air box on their ATS turbo and used PVC pipe or similar to make a air inlet tube with a big honkin air filter (BHAF) attached to it?
if so can you post pics for me to model after?

You mean like a cold air intake?

Sure...this is how I did it (intake tube is 4" exhaust pipe)...others have done it without flipping the filter mount.

How did you deal with the hard lines when flipping the filter mount?

Cut em and spliced in rubber hose.

Looks like I might have to add that to my summer project list, bet that makes it nice and easy for filter changes too!

Not really, just flipped it to the outside.

I actually just recently ditched the filter head...put a water separator up under the truck, and put a different filter head on there with a 2 micron filter.

One nice thing about the flipped filter bracket is that yes, it does make filter changes easier, and you can put a 6 or 7" long filter on there very easily!

Eventually I'd like to rework the bracket a bit to get a coolant filter on there too...but, that may be down the road a bit.

Sure I'll get some pics tomorrow. Now I do need to note that I have an electric pump...also, I got two identical filter heads off an old bulldozer (an International in fact ) but there's about a million different filters out there for them (1"-14 thread, 3 11/16" OD filter). Another plus was that the filter heads had the same bolt spacing as the stock filter head, they bolted right up to the bracket I already had.

This head had two inlet openings, so for the one on the back side I just removed the small orifice fitting from the factory head and put it in that inlet so that everything would still bleed correctly.

And this is under the truck where the fuel pump is:

The bottom of the separator is hanging a little below the skidplate...I may put a piece on there to cover it at some point, but I don't offroad the truck so I'm not really that worried about it right now.

BTW I'm using the Carter P4594 pump which is 72 gph and 8 psi. I'm currently seeing about 5-6 psi on the gauge on the outlet of the filter head.
