I see a lot of people say go with group 31. The books say group 65. Will group 31 fit in our trucks without modification?

Can say from experience that they fit. Put a pair in my dad's truck.

I went to Sams Club and purchased 2 group 31A 950cca for $115 each. I’m pretty happy with this.

I don’t know why my signature isn’t showing. It is a 93 idiot.

IME, 65's are easier to find at the box stores. At better prices and warranties.

It's a bit of a hunt for cranking 31's around here; usually have to go with $200ish Interstate from the local parts store. Only need one in my dodges, and the 65 doesn't fit.

I was at Costco to see the difference between a 31 and a 65, They only carry the group 65`s.

Was at Wally World later on and they didn`t have the 31`s.

I heard and read that you can buy 2nd`s or blems from Interstate for a big reduction on price.

Just to throw it out there, 31's are typically used in commercial or industrial applications. They're used a lot in semis. Either those are 8D's which are flippin' huge.

Yeah you can get 31's at any truck stop or HD dealership or repair shop, or a big Napa.
But I am certain it'd have to adjust my trays to get them to fit. I'm fine with 65's every 6-8 years.
@Nero are you seeing group 31 quality decline like so many other things? We got two new batts at Freightliner for the truck I drive at work and one already has a dead cell, one year old.

@The_Josh_Bear so long story short, my work purchased a battery manufacturing business, if I remember right in Vancouver WA, back in 2019. At first the battery quality wasn't that great, we had to warranty a few out, even my own that I had purchased. But they're way better now. I have a carbon pile at home and test my batteries whenever I have a concern.

Rural King has great prices on group 31’s. Threaded terminal posts available as well. I’m on my second set, the first set made it about 4 years which is pretty normal but with the $100 price tag I can’t complain.
