Ok so i got my truck running again the other day, and it still runs like crap. I cant figure out why but this is what i've done to it and did'nt help the problem at all. Ok i replaced the feul lines, return lines, deleted the fuel heater and put a new one peice filter on it. I also put new gp's in it and redid the gp wiring harness, bleed the fuel system and cranked it over untill it started..

What it does, well it runs kinda like a pulling tractor. Barely idles and sounds like it's got a huge cam in it. My first thought was maybe i have bad injectors becouse even after it has ran for a few minutes it does not clear up, runs the same "crappy" and smokes like a hell on the 4th of july...

What do you guy's think could it just be air intrusion still happening or could it be bad injectors or maybe something else completely. It does have a reman injection pump on it, with about 20k on it and it never loses coolant or anything.. I should add that you can realy smell unburnt deisel feul in the smoke poring out of the tailpipe. Thanks

sounds like the advance circuit in the IP took a dump.... my truck did the same thing.... poured smoke...and idled like crap....and when you drove it it would surge like someone would kick on the nitrous when the boost would come on (banks turbo).

only thing that stopped it was putting in a rebuilt IP (diesel logic U-haul pump).

I just went to check the injector code and found it had D codes and BB codes mismatched in it?? Could that be why it is running like chit or oes that not matter... I have a full set of D's laying in the garage that i pulled from a parts truck i had, the parts truck had 131k on it and the injectors look clean. Is it worth swapping them in or should i buy new BB's and try that.. Or is it defantly my injection pump that is making it like like crap??

I this what you are taliking about? Would this go bad on a remam pump with less than 30k and is it worth replacing it??

mine seems to idle a bit rougher "have not ran it untill it gets hot yet" and no black smoke, just white smoke with strong diesel smell..

Reman injectors are often made to the same spec even though they were originally different codes. Do you know the history of the injectors that are in it?

Sounds like you need to rule out the basics before throwing parts at it. Air in the lines, fuel pressure, timing, a combination of any of them. Several things could be manifest in the same symptoms.

But could my ip realy be bad with only about 30k on it?? Thats what baffles me, or is it the part in the ip that "freebird" mentioned that causes them to run like this??

I think i definatly am getting air, but after 1-2 minutes of run time any air in the system should be cleared out and it should smooth out and idle/run fine correct?? The hard starting is probly air intrusion thou...

If you have an leak in the fuel system you just reworked completely, you can purge all day but it'll come back. Especially if you're running the stock lift pump, it's going to suck air just like when you hit the end of your fountain drink at the movies. If you've drawn a bead on an air intrusion problem, I'd fix that then see where you are.

The D codes injectors look like the origional ones, The BB codes look cleaner like they were changed out at some point in time..

My money's on a new set of injectors being in your near future, but again I'd fix the air intrusion problem and see where you are, and crack 'em just to make sure. I bought a set of matched reman BBs from Mel, and the thing idles like butter now. Admittedly, they're matched with a new Baby Moose.
