ATS up pipe question

Hi Gang!
My first question for the day: Should the up pipe be resting on the corner of the intake manifold/block area? I'm having to clock both sides of the turbo for everything to fit as it should. So should the weight be supported by the oil drain pedestal or should the pipe rest on the engine?

Is there a flat spot or something that would rest on the corner? If so, it would make sense that it should.
If there's no contact area for it to rest, then I'd try to make sure there's a little clearance.

Unfortunately, I haven't taken apart an ATS system yet, so I can't say off the top of my head. On my Banks systems, there's a little 'pad' on the up-pipe casting that sits on top of the bellhousing spacer/adaptor at the back of the motor.

Thanks! there are some cast tabs, I don't know where/if there contacting anything. I've got black DEI thermo wrap on it so that makes it harder to see. I'm just mocking things up, getting a feel for how it goes together. I'll look closer at the tabs when I pull it off again.

That makes sense. However that's quite a bit of weight to be levering on the pedestal. I know that it's getting some relief from the Y pipe, but still...

If I'm thinking about it right, I think most of the weight should be supported by the passenger's side exhaust manifold. Those two big studs can hold a lot.

pretty sure the weight is supported by the oil drain pedestal. When I did mine IIRC I bolted the turbo to the pedestal and then fed the up-pipe up from underneath?? Not sure anymore, all I know is it was a royal pain in the neck.

I think things will become clear when you start going together with it...

Thanks guys, I'll clock it so that there's just a tiny gap between the engine and the up pipe.

That's pretty much the plan. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to the bottom ones with everything bolted together. I guess I'll find out.
