Another tank selector valve question

I posted a couple weeks back on chasing down an air intrusion problem, and after having to walk away a couple times to regain my composure I've gotten back to the tank selector valve. I have clear rubber line coming off the blue feed line on the valve going to the lift pump and I'm getting big air. Are the fuel connections on the valve know to leak, or the unit itself a leaker? Both tanks are full and it doesn't matter which tank it's on so it leads me to believe it's a line or connection. One thing I didn't check is if the valve is clicking when I switch tanks- I'm doing this myself and I can't hear anything.. Anybody have a bad plastic line, connection, or switch cause air intrusion? This is on the "87 6.9

the fuel line coming off the valve going to the lift pump can go up and down a little bit- this ok?

Dunno about your '87, but on my '85, those fittings use "hairpin" clips. Might want to see if your clip is broken or missing. Does the fitting pull off of the selector valve port by hand?

no the pin is there. Just a little up and down play. I tested the fuel shutoff valve and it works, but wondering about the connections. I'm getting air when either front or rear tank is on. So I ordered a connector for the feed line off the valve -I'll have new fuel line from the selector forward.

The connection actually has two orings inside. Could need replacing.

so while I still had some daylight today I pulled the fuel feed line off the selector valve and put a length of 3/8 clear line right on the valve. Turned her over and I'm getting air. Then I pulled the feed line off the top on the midship tank and put 3/8 clear line on. Cranked her over and no air. I ended up pulling all the fuel lines off and taking the valve off the truck for a look. Shot some air thru it and it looks like the valve is stuck in the middle. Said screw it and drilled the rivets out to take it apart. Oldbull just posted a few pics on this in another thread--thanks. I'm going to try and clean it, then get it back together right. See what happens.
