Another reason why I love my truck

I was getting off the interstate this morning and there was a pickup with his rear end sticking out, into the exit ramp lane. As I got closer, he coasted it out of the exit lane and onto the shoulder. I pulled up beside him and asked if he needed any help. He said his gas gauge didn't work and that he might be out of gas.

He asked me to push him up to the top of the exit ramp and he'd be able to coast it into his apartment complex. I didn't want to use my truck to push his, since my bumper is a lot higher than his. I did not want to bust his tailgate, or brake lights.

We tried pushing it up the hill, but it was a futile effort. He seemed to be almost panicked and pulled out a small piece of plywood from the cab of his truck. He said he didn't care about damaging his truck and needed to get it home. He had a lot of tools in the bed and didn't want to leave it sitting where it was.

He held the plywood to his tailgate and motioned me closer. Once I made contact, he climbed in and put it in neutral. Once I let off the brake, we started moving I barely had to use the pedal and we made it up the hill.. He coasted across the road and right into his parking lot!



Just another one of the reasons I love my diesel!

very good. i had to use my truck to push a very old cavilier ( i think thats how you spell it ) for about 100'. it made my liscence plate look like crumpled up paper! so i bashed it straight again and put the rear plate on the front! good times.

Yeah, that's what i miss about my 86, even though my gasser seems to do the job okay(I've towed my neighbor's half ton dodge a couple of times). That old thing was a trooper, and thank heavens for the transfer case. The rear axle gave up the ghost on me one time in Vegas and I drove it all the way home to SLC pulling a trailer, just by throwing it in 4hi.

i love it up here in the winter. all the pretty boy trucks get parked ie chevy's, dodges, and all you see is ford's or tractor's all up and down the roads and all you smell is diesel exhaust. "I LOVE THE SMELL OF DIESEL IN THE MORNING"

I pulled a car out of a ditch with the Moosestang a few weeks back. It was 4' down over the bank. One of those GM saturn type things. I had to look back several times waiting for the slack to be taken up. I got out once to see why the tow rope had come unhooked. When I did, the car wasn't in the ditch anymore.
