I have a leaky injector pump. Mine seems to be leaking where the high idle rod, as you call it, goes in and out. Is that fixable?

Yes but... Ita a band aide at the very most. How many miles are on the pump if you know and where was the pump from if its a low mileage failure. I have seen rebuild DB2 kits on ebay some time back. They have around 70 gaskets, o-rings and "stuff" that you need... I'm not expert so I'm not going to open up a pump. Mel did this once at a rally to show how its done and whats instde. Its a very involved procedure too. I feel you can find the bad seal replacement at any good injection pump repair shop near you.

The pump is a factory Navistar rebuild with ~20k miles on it. I bought it off a local parts truck.

Well at 20,000 miles it should not be leaking like you say it is. But its difficult to know who actually did the work. Probably talikng to Mel (agnem) about how to replace the seal is a good thing... Maybe even Russ (typ4) might be able to advise you. This is out of my world of knowing stuff. Sorry about that too... I really need to know more about this too.
