Now that I finaly got the fuel system replaced, and the timing re-done, I'm actually noticing smoke coming out the pipe for a change! Which begs the question: With out adding a Turbo, how the heck do I get more air in there? I cut my bowl out a long time ago. I've looked at the Hypermax for a long time, but I'm just a little leary of it because my cowl gets packed full of and coverd with snow and ice in the winter. I've also seen some pics on line where guys have added a second intake to the air filter housing. Would that be worth while? How about combineing the two and adding a second intake line that would mount to a cowl induction unit? The other option would be to try to figure out a decent way to drop the end of the intake down into the grill area so that it would draw from an area with plenty of positive pressure without it looking like something that some high school kid duck taped together. I'm not really interested in getting more HP (I'm satisfied with what I have, but I also wouldn't turn down more), but less smoke should mean more MPG, and that would be a good thing. On top of that, I really don't like the smoke anyway.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mark

I appreciate the thought. If I had the appropriate pipe, I'd be willing to give straight pipes a try, but right now I just don't have the extra $$. I'm saving up my pennies to buy a faucet pump. Last month I bought all the brass fittings and a gauge that I can put under the hood. This month I'll probably buy a solenoid, fuse, and the rest of the electrical stuff that I need to make it work along with the block off plate. I won't be able to buy the pump until October at best.

I've seen a normal carbed gasser air cleaner with two 14"x3" elements stacked.... i'd think that would flow pretty good.

We put the cowl intake on ours because I got it from somebody here for cheap. Our clunker is already noisy with non existing door seals, etc. but this brought another level of noise. With this tranny and gears and it screaming at highway speeds there is a certain spot that rings my ears a bit.

The instructions say to disconnect the hose to the cowl during snow. Rain shouldn't be a big deal but around here its cold then to so I would disconnect it then to for the hell of it.
