Air Filtration

Lets talk clean air. Mostly because of the context of my current observations

On my truck, pre intercooler, but with a bull moose and turbo and stock Ford filter box and small square filter, I could typically see 16-16.5 mpg on 60-70mph cruising (best of 16.7 right before the intercooler install this summer).

Now, with "OB approved" CXRacing intercooler with 2.25" piping and a 6637 filter feeding the turbo through 30" of 3" tubing, I have barely broken into 15mpg on similar 60-70mph cruising. I also feel like I'm smokier now, but that is unoffocial as I have no way of measuring this.

Does my decrease in mileage make sense with the intercooler? (I don't think it does) I'm kinda baffled by this and at a bit of a loss.

The aem may flow more air.
On my psd with just a chip, exhaust, and 6637, I can suck down the restriction gauge sometimes.
If you're still running the cdr, I would look into the intercooler to see if it's caked with oil.

Got a road draft tube. Didn't want to oil up the intercooler. I'm debating putting the restriction gauge off my square box on my 3" pipe leading to the turbo inlet to see what it shows.

I have the stock round filter. The ones with a foam wrap are very restrictive.sucks my gauge right down

I have that AEM filter... just not on my truck still in the box in my basement

Exspensive but it's worth a look at is the afe big boost filter on riffraff. Some of the reviews say that they really noticed a diffrence with it.thats probley what ima run on my powerstroke and the Idi once I turbo it
