How do i convert a air conditioner pump into a air compressor?

theres only two that will work for that----a old v chrysler cast iron one--or the tecumseh/??????? clone. reason being these have a crankcase--that holds oil-----the rest are like a two cycle lawnboy----even then, they need to be plumbed with a pressure line at the top--and a drain line in the bottom---off of crankcase oil--

sassyrel, the other word you were looking for is ------York. I like the aluminum version for obvious reasons, oh an ac pump will make in excess of 300 lbs so make sure the pressure switch and blow off work properly.

you could rig up a simple air compressor pressure switch. it can be an Alternating current one cuz all you need it to do is turn on and off a 12volt electric clutch. adjust it to the pressures you want it to turn on and off at.

My F-800 has a purpose built belt driven air compressor on it. Has a governor valve and everything. It's oiled off the engine. Maybe hunt around some big truck junk yards and find one.

most of them seem to use it for airing up tires and maybe running an impact for reapiring a flat. so who knows.

We used to have some bluebird busses that had air factory air brakes and those things used a york type belt driven compressor for the air supply mounted on ford 460 gasser engines. Those things can handle continuous use no problem

I use a York, and it great for making air for the horns, the impact, tires or whatever. I regulate it with an old garage compresser switch. It come on at 75 psi and goes off at 120 psi.
