Advanced search doesn't work

Well it works but not very good. I try to find recent topics searching a key word or username but it doesn't return many. For example, I search for my username and it returns 10. It appears to be sorted from oldest to newest so I can never find recent posts. If I want to follow up on a recent discussion but can't remember the title then there is no hope of finding it.

Can the search function be changed to return results listed from newest to oldest?

I've actually just used Google to search for things on occasion. Type in the main topic and then add "oilburners.net" Its really hit and miss though..
