There is how I have mine. Never could get a straight answer on whether or not my 87' was supposed to have a firewall unit or if it did water seperation. The e-pump is nearby but that photo is old. I put it on the fender

All 6.9's (83-87) had the same filter head and crappy firewall mount seperator, mine has been replaced with a goldenrod, works excellently.
