Actual hp and tq numbers

Just wondering what kind of real world hp and tq numbers you can get from one of these motors without breaking the bank and with breaking the bank. Plan on keeping this motor and upgrading, was gonna put in a 12valve but i really like this motor. And thanks to this site and thedieselstop.com ive learned so much about them that i would be foolish not to keep it.

for a realistic daily driver you can dump a conservative $1k in it and make say...255hp but that will take patience and know how. if you have a little more extencive budget you can make probably close to 400hp but you could dump a lot of money doing so. now if you want insaine power and don't care about reliability you can make 1200hp it has been done but who knows how much money the guy dumped into it, it was the guys who started Hypermax.

HP at the crank or rear wheels makes a big differance when you talk numbers. Most here will tell you the rear wheel hp reading are around 200 or so with just a turbo working for you. Now take my motor with all the work I have done to make it run smoother and create as much hp as is reliable going down the road hauling very expensive horses from here to Canada and other places. I need something I can repair along the way if things go bad. I can't do that with a psd. I'm not that smart or that rich. So so probably think my hp is way up there. Notice I didn't post a number. I can eat crow with the best of them. Posting a number without something backing it up is reckless. I will have some dyno runs soon both with and without the infamous Moose pump. People need to know.... I will state this up front... That Moose pump is a kick @ss fuel burning smoke making pump... I only wish I could give everyone a ride or sent you my pump and let you try it out but thats probably not gonna happen. It just plain works very well. Gees... I should be getting some revenue for this don'tca think... Hmmm...

Just guessing seeing the work people have done, im thinking you can make 250 ish hp at the wheels with a good turbo, a healthy fuel system, innercooled, headstuds. If you drop the compression a little to run that 12+ PSI boost, i think you could get a little higher. Just a thought, nothing to really back it up, but it seems reasonable.

well, good. i saw that you were giving heath the 3rd degree about the ts dyno, ;p, so i figured thats when you were planning on giving us the goods. so then......... get to it. i want to see what recipe i need to follow!

torque is what matters to me. I have 3 mile long 8% grades around here, i want to be able to maintain speed at the top. Not tryin to pass dads insane 6.0 or my buddies and there nasty 24 valves i just want to stat at say 60 at the bottom and be doing close to that at the top without turnin 3500 rpms.

Here are some dyno numbers for you

Just a quick post I will elaborate more and have pics later.

I Dynoed Big Ed today, here are the reults..


First pull, no LPG
HP 183.15 Torque 325.45

2nd and 3rd pull with LPG

HP 205.35 Torque 362.64
HP 205.51 Torque 361.55

So 22.96 increase in HP
and 37.19 increase in Torque.

That was with an internally stock 7.3 with turned up pump, old style Banks Turbo, Free flowing intake and exhust, and obvously Propane Injection

I havent dynoed the Cummins yet....
