97 12v in a skoolie.

I'm new to diesel engines but I'm pretty mechanical. I just purchased a 35 foot school bus with a 97 12v and an Allison tranny. I want to get around 350 HP on a budget. Without ruining my engine or tranny. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to OB. There's not a ton of traffic for Cummins stuff here as the majority of the content is 6.9/7.3 Navistar. Just trying to let you know if you don't get a ton of participation, don't be surprised or frustrated. My suggestion would be to look towards a more 12V Cummins specific site for more traffic/ideas.

Figure out which allison you have, as that will be the limiting factor for you.

If it's an at545, don't plan on any changes to the engine HP, as the trans won't tolerate it.

To echo what @lotzagoodstuff said, you'll find very little cummins stuff here. And aside from me and a few others with buses on here, very little bus info as well. My school bus is powered by an idi, and that's the only reason I'm here. A lot of the stuff here is pickup centered.
