95 Powerstroke to 93 IDI Conversion

are you converting a '95 to an IDI or a '93 to a 'stroke?

if you're putting the stroke in the 93, you'll need pretty much the entire electronics package from the 95 in it, if you're putting the IDI in the '95, you now have a few extra wires and unused fuses............

I'm building a truck from a crew cab that used to have a powerstroke in it. It is a 95 , and I was told, that year had the wiring to go either way. I'm putting a IDI motor in the truck.Actually, I'm just using the cab , and mounting it to a regular cab chasis, and am going to have a shorty bed.So, it should be no huge ordeal to do what I'm atempting, should it? Thanks

95 was a powerstroke only truck. You need to change your wiring from your 93 and put that in the 95

NO. the harness under the dash is diffferent as well

Sounds like a cool project. Like Brad said, it will be much less of a headache just to swap all the wiring/dash from the '93 to the '95. I know Mel has been thinking about repowering a '99+ Superduty bodystyle with an IDI.

The 7.3PSD in that Ex has really gotten under his skin the last few months.... I know he mentioned it, but has he really been considering it? I know it could be done..... but WOW!!! That would be alot of work to make the dash and all work, unless he swapped an OBS IDI dash in and went "old school" in the Ex....

I want an IDI sometime, but it will be in a vintage truck.... and I will keep the PSD in the Ex.....

What under the dash would be different? Seems like they should be pretty close.

The IDI instrument cluster has "regular" gauges, meaning they are controlled by a sensor/sending unit on the engine.

Any PSD, where it is a 7.3 in and OPS or SuperDuty, a 6.0, 6.4 or 6.7 PSD, that instrument cluster is controlled by the PCM (computer). So to put and older engine in one of these trucks, there is nothing to run the gauges.... so the older gauge cluster, or a custom gauge cluster would be needed.......

My current designs on the Moose Wagon are to convert it to a manual trans. Since paying to have the injector cup replaced, I've got to keep the PSD a while to have it pay for itself. However, if it gives me a serious wallet ache like that again, that computerized mess may well be looking at the engine hoist.
