So me and a buddy are thinking of putting an 86 6.9 with a 4 speed in his 79 f150 that has a a 351 and a c6. We figure we can get the 6.9 and 4 speed physically in a weekend and then wiring and butting it up will take a few weeks. My question is with the pedal assembly. Will the 86 assembly bolt to the 79 firewall? We have a full 86 donor truck. We are also not to conserved on this being a perfect shape truck. We just get bored and want to put something together. So if need be ill just cut the 86 firewall out and weld it to the 79

I did/am doing this exact swap, I'm toward the end of it and almost ready to drive... 79 F150 4x4 with a 351 and a C6 to a 6.9/T19 out of a late 86. For the pedals, I used the 79 pedal bracket, and then bored the holes a bit bigger so the shaft that the pedals swing on would fit through the 79 bracket. I relocated the arm that pushes the clutch master cylinder to the opposite side, so it is all the way to the left of the clutch pedal and the clutch master is mounted there, because it won't clear the brake booster if you try to mount it where it was on the 86. Also, you will need to either body lift your truck 3 inches, or do a hydroboost conversion. I chose the body lift route, but if you have the money you should hydroboost it.
No problem. Yeah, I couldn't afford the hydroboost lol... You'll most likely have to body lift it due to the way the motor sits. My truck has all custom motor mounts and whatnot, and it sits just right but I needed the body lift for the brake booster clearance.
