7.3 idi turbo knock

You have a video of the knock? Once your truck was making a knocking. Was it similar to my video?

I’m gonna take a dial indicator and read the lift, between cylinders. Should give me an idea if lifter are performing correctly.

I will try and upload it after my nap....(night shifter..) It started out as a knock then slowly turned into more of a growl but what had me baffled is it went away at about 1200 RPM and sounded perfectly normal.

It was probably about 1000 miles. Doesn't sound like you're knock but it tells how a sound can travel. I initially thought it was my turbo when it started making the growling noise because that's where it sounded like it was coming from. A crap mechanic wanted to bet me it was a hole in the number 8 piston.. such a *********...

Yeah I’ve been driving close to 5000 miles and still noise is the same as day one..

I think this is my knock. Would explain why it only happens once warm. Metal expanding. This is happening on cylinder 2 and cylinder 7.
