Ok....so my IDI finally blew up and Im looking to rebuild it. I want to build it though to withstand an aftermarket turbo kit. I am just wandering if there is a lot of performance parts I could use, because if I rebuild it....I want to rebuild it to withstand for ahwile. I know that I want to stud the heads, but I just wandered if there is anything else I could put in it performance wise. Thanks yall

Everyone here is going to ask you "what do you mean it blew up?"

Did it blow a headgasket? Did it window the block? There are a great many degrees of blown up'ness, and that will directly corelate to your rebuilding prospects...

The above posting is so true. As for high proformance parts... Not much out there. A couple of cams. An expensive stroker kit from Barnette Proformance machine shop. A Moose pump and injectors. Mahle makes a great hard anadoised top piston. They are the oem makers of all the idi pistons. Not anything is an aftermarket intake or exhaust manifolds. Heads are not out there either. You can buy new ones though. Others will chime in as time allows with anything I missed...

Ok...thanks a lot yall. What I mean when I say it blew up is it is making a loud thud like noise and is blowing compression out the intake tube.

Sounds easily repairable. Probably an intake valve is fubared. It could be several things too like a broken valve or stuck open valve hitting the piston. Not something to want to keep running either. Heres hopeing you didn't drop a valve head and ruin a cylinder...

X2! sound like a lifter or valve. Pull the valve covers off and see what you find...broken springs etc...
I have had lifter issues before and an exhaust valve guide go bad on me and the valve got stuck sideways in the guide and kaboom!!! Made a hell of a "thump" for a few months before it went. Cost me a whole motor instead of just the heads or a valve job.
