7.3 cam timing

Now I'm curious, how long would the motor have to sit before the litters would bleed down? My 6.9 has been sitting almost a year in need of head gaskets and I'm wondering if this would happen to me? Also how would I refill the lifters? Would I soak them in oil like flat tappets?

Depends on if you are going to pull them or not. If you pull them, you can soak them. However, if you pull them just to soak them, you still do not know if the springs in them are bad, or the seals are leaking.

Mine had been sitting for at LEAST two years when got it running.
