Those are both pretty heavy engines.. about 2,000lbs.

Specs and sizes here The 3208 is kind of long at 59".

I think you will find that a lot of the Chevy trucks with 5-speeds used an SAE bellhousing, with a big-block adapter. If you use a truck tranny, you shouldn't need an adapter. Also, IMHO, while the SM465 is a near-bulletproof box, I'd think twice about using it with the kind of torque a 6V92, or 3208 will apply to the 1 1/8" input shaft.

The truck trannies will have a 1 3/4" or 2" input shaft.

well i found out it would take too much to put a cat in there so does anyone have any ideas. maybe a 6.2 or 6.5, a first gen cummins, a 8.2 out of a big truck or any other ideas anyone has. (no powerjokes or duramaxs)

I'd go 12 valve 5.9 Cummins. Easiest to get parts for, plenty of power for a class 5 truck and cheapest swap would be to find an old school bus with one and take everything you need out of it.

8.2 detroit was common in buses too. Just stay away from the first couple years they were made.
