Halfway through my return line replacement I realized I had a 6.9 kit...doh! Wanting to get as much done as I could before DeathStorm 2012, I put it on anyway, added a tee, everything plumbed up ok. But after searching some old threads here I am wondering...I have the IP return routed into the #2 end cap, will that provide sufficient flow? Or should I have a "dedicated" line from the IP back to the factory tee back by #8, like a 6.9 does? I would like to get this set up right the first time, as it will still be a little while before the engine is started to test it (or I try to start it). Has anyone had a problem returning the IP and driver-side caps on a single 3/16 line?

P.S. Used Viton o-rings and Gates Barrier 30r14 in 1/4 and 3/16 instead of the crap in the kit...should not rot internally and collapse over time I hope. I should post pics of what the B100 did to the OEM lines :puke:

I see a problem right away. There is no way a 1/4 inch line will fit tight on a 3/16 fitting. The flow pattern is not going to be an issue. No reason for a deicated return from the injection pump. I know some engines are equipted like that but I feel its not needed. My engine never had the retrun off the fuel filter. Its always been difficult to bleed air out of a filter after I change them.

At lunch atm; I finished my sandwich and my brain began working again. I'll just put straight 3/16 on those lines and replace the nipples. The Gates r14 stuff is reinforced but still flexible enough to get on a 1/4 fitting, so I'll keep the 1/4 check-valve-nipple.

I initially did the same thing on my truck with a 6.9 return kit. My truck wouldn't run for very long though. Local diesel shop knew what it was right away. I put on a 7.3 kit and had no problems.

Where is the check valve your talking about?

IP check valve on top of IP that feeds fuel to the injectors and return line system. I don't see any reason that the 3/16" line won't provide enough fuel to a 7.3 engine, the IP output, if you look, it has a very small hole at the check valve, it's only about 1/8" ID.

1st pic --Top of IP
2nd pic--check valve.
3rd pic--Check valve showing small hole.
4th pic--90* fitting with check valve on it.
