6.9 idi thermostat bypass

When I went to replace my thermostat I flipped the housing upside down an lost the ball for the bypass. It's nowhere. Any ideas on where to get a replacement? I would rather now buy the housing units if I can just get a new ball for the bypass. Thanks everyone.

I know it will run without but the engine stays pretty cold I would like to keep the bypass closed until needed.

I don't have one in any of my thermostat housings and haven't had any issues. If the engine stays cold, then there is something wrong with your thermostat.

Replace the thermostat with a Motorcraft one. Never use a non-motorcraft thermostat.
Delete that check ball and keep it wide open.
It doesn't affect warming up, and having that passage clear really helps with bleeding air out of the system.

Well I put it back together without the check ball and it seems to be doing fine. Thanks for the advice guys.
