6.9 getting decked should i be worried?

I am getting my 6.9 blocks decked on the top should I have my pistons shaved for valve clearance? I am not sure how much he is taking off I told him to take off what is needed. the block had exhaust gas escaping burning the top of the block.

That could be bad. After my experience last August with a machinist who is in love with milling, I'd say yes to the shaved pistons. Make sure that the machinist ONLY takes off what is needed.

Make sure that, once everything has been milled, that at TDC the piston comes out of the block by the right amount. Check the specifications for how far(I think it's around .025" above the deck)

For the turbo model (and I assume NA), the spec on piston deck protrusion is 0.011" to 0.036".
