For the last few weeks I've been getting a nagging feeling that the performance of the Moosestang had trailed off some. It's hard to tell though because the cocktail of fuel that it runs varies so much, and performance has never been as good with WMO as it is with streight #2. So I decided to clean it out some and run a few tanks of #2 just to clean the cylinders out. EGT's have been high, and with the really hot weather we have been having it just has felt really sluggish. So last night I decided to check my own timing. What a concept! I spend all year checking everybody elses. Why not my own? Well the cobblers children have no shoes they say. So I broke down and took the time to check it last night.
I was retarded.
5.5 degrees. No wonder it was running like crap. But hey, now I'm back on 8.5 and things are peachy! So the moral of the story is, don't be a retard and be too stuborn to get your timing checked.
