I've done a 3G swap on a bricknose before, but not the IDI with its external regulator. My never had one. So does the external regulator for the stock alternator need to be disconnected with a internally regulated 3G alternator?

I don't believe that the article in the tech section covered that bit.

Yep, pull it and rmeove the wiring. On the 3g harness the green/red goes to key on +12v, white back to the alternator lonely single plug, and yellow goes to your battery. Yellow can be run back to the charge lug but is the voltage sense wire so really should go back to either battery, solenoid, or other main distribution point as it adjust alternator output voltage to get target voltage at wherever that wire terminates.

I ran the yellow to the lug on Bruiser when I did the swap, but after reading the tech article here, it makes sense. Going to run it to the battery on this one and put it on the list for Bruiser when I can finally get back to her. I'll do the same on the Bronco after we get it road ready.

I used a 175 amp fuse on the charge cable on Bruiser and didn't think to check ebay for a fuse holder, so I billed a block of wood to the inner fender, which I didn't like. Got a giant breaker to replace it before I got the Enterprise so it's going to go on it and I'll get another 2 for the other trucks.
