2001 silverado aftermaket gauge install

my friend as a 4.8L silverado. he has an autometer tach that he wants to install. he would like to keep the factory gauge working as well. is that possible? where would he put the sender for the new gauge into the engine to read the rpm?

we go the gauge hooked up. was really easy.

all you need to do is pop the gauge cluster out. there will be a plug with a bunch of wires going into the cluster. the tach sender wire is the white wire in pin A2. we just spliced the sensor wire from the autometer tach into that white wire and everything works great. we had the tach set on 8cyl but for some reason was about 2K rpm off. so we set the tach to the 4cyl setting and it is spot on with the factory tach.
