Of new Borg Warner plugs that are dead!! Truck started up like she did before I replaced them, 8 second glow and 5 seconds of cranking before she lit and still misfired. I ohmed them and 2 are dead. I then put 2 good autolites in and now shes great again. 15 second burn with no misfire. We'll see how long the rest of them last, and now I have to see if fleetsource.com will replace them.

Yeah I wouldn't use those autolites. I wonder if your timing is too far advanced? That chews GPs.

Well maybe... but I still want to know about his timing. Typically not even the autolites or chumps would fail that quickly. Also they must not have swollen up too much if he could get them back out easily. The berus just work so flawlessly with this system experimenting has been discouraged but there are many things that can kill a good glowplug, and advanced timing say beyone 10* BTDC is one of them.

Pit some Beru's in and be done with it?

Beru's or nothing, end of story. The last GP I took out of my truck was an autolite put in by the previous owner - I still can't believe I got it out....Took me a 1/2hr of gentle persuasion.

They didnt swell or anything, however i am taking a risk by having the autolites in their place. My reasoning behind it is out of the new ones, #3 and #5 burned out, now the replacement autolites have been in my truck for over a year and a half, so i ohmed the 2 that went in their place, and if in a week or two they burn out, ill know it has something to do with the controller. The truck hasnt been timed and i dont have the money to have it timed. I guess these arnt berus afterall!!

sure wish i saw the post about the motorcraft ones at ryderfleetproducts earlier because it would have ony been $2 more per plug.

The dealership wanted $25 per!

Rock auto also carries them. However if I remember right, my set came from ryderfleetproducts.

Even though everyone will stand by motorcraft berus, and for good reason, I think when ever someone tries a new plug and they fail for whatever reason, we should ad the manufacturer and part number into a list on ones not to buy.
