so guys with the stock cooler and the summer heat i am seeing 170 degree tranny temps when im not moving. Moving it never goes above 160.

My questions are should i ditch the stock cooler and get the tru cool 4739 with the bypass valve so i don't over cool the tranny in the winter or?

Also what should the pressure be coming back from the stock cooler? Im going to install a Donaldson tranny filter setup and want to know what pressure gauge i should get with it.

The stock cooler is rated at a measly 9K, the weight of our unloaded truck.
I have the Tru Cool LPD 4590 and see 70*F over ambient temps. Never had an overheating issue since.

Your tranny fluid is taking a trip through the radiator first right? That should put your tranny fluid temp at + or - 200 degrees prior to hitting your cooler right..... thats summer or winter. ;)

yeah mike that is correct. The stock cooler is in the radiator isn't it?

Anyone have some pictures of the stock cooler setup?
