I have an 03 Ram 2500 and the shift indicator light has never worked since I got the truck. I replaced the neutral safety switch on the side of the trans with no luck. Years later now, I just did a 250 mile trip in 110 degree heat and low and behold, it lit up! All gears appeared to light up as they should. But accompanying the shift indicator was a problem where I have trouble shifting out of park once I’m in it. It takes a few tries of stepping on the brake to release the gears.
I’ve tried a shifter cable adjustment with no luck. Tried adjusting the shift solenoid under the dash with no luck. I’ve also read that it could be the rooster comb on the trans.
Anyone have a similar thing happen with their shifter?
