Hmm, I'll be watching that one!

What tranny came in the broncos?

I believe the 89's came with the AOD, possibly the AODE. I think I'd just buy another dipstick tube, one that has the bell housing tab intact, or even have a tab welded onto the current one.

Need T-Case info - truck down

My '87 had an oil pump failure, it wasn't pretty. I dumped the entire case and got another one. As far as the oil pump, the problem is there is a triangular piece of steel that holds one side of the pump in place while the other spins on the shaft, causing the pump to operate. When the...

    rear window swap

I'm sure he means the supercab windows, not the rear window.

    rear window swap

I've thought about this, and the middle-bar windows are actually just one big piece, the middle bar is just the outer trim piece. Otherwise, I would think it would fit. Let me know how it goes.

    Turning Radius

Well, having the TTB setup in my Bronco and F-250, I've wondered about my turning radius on the truck. My front wheels on the Bronco will turn further than the truck. I removed the steering stops on the truck, and I'm at the limit of the steering box now, or so it seems. I've still got a good...

    Bio-Diesel

Here's where I learned: http://www.biodieselcommunity.org/titratingoil/ I didn't buy the book, but read through this site and found a lot of good information. I got my setup running very easily, and it works well.

    Which side of the key?

So what's the point of a "valet" key if the valet can't drive it to the parking spot? Just curious about this.

    block heater problem

Anvil, It's not a brand name, but rather just a newer setup. The solid state system was implemented on the 1987 6.9's, and used on all the 7.3 IDI's from 1988 on. You either just need to purchase the parts, or there's a kit that used to be available from International, but not sure if you...

    block heater problem

Yeah, that's not far, we go to the springs more often than Denver. Wind is really aweful in my area too, have to bolt everything down so it doesn't end up in Kansas. As for glow plugs, I buy the Beru/Motorcraft glow plugs from Autozone, and they seem to last very well. I've read complaints...

    block heater problem

Also, if you're glow plugs are in good shape, don't use ether, it will kill them quickly. Use WD-40 as a starter fluid, it works great.

    block heater problem

Sounds like you'v got some glow plug issues, or a fuel system problem if it's that tough to start. Mine's hard to start, but I can get it after 2 or 3 cycles of the glow plugs, and I'm working on a solution. Even at 0 degrees, if your fuel system and glow plugs are properly working, it...

    Intaking Woofing now

Thanks for all the advice. I got the truck to learn about diesels, and that's exactly what I'm doing. I can do anything on a gasser, and am catching onto diesels quickly. I like how easy this truck is to work on compared to my other vehicles. I very well didn't want to learn about diesels by...

    Intaking Woofing now

Ok, so my valve train noise has gotten worse and I have a woofing from the intake now. Due to the large amount of snow, I haven't been able to really dig into it much, at least till I get the Bronco out of the garage. So, I don't think it's cavitation, as I'm not losing much oil, coolant...

    block heater problem

Isn't there an issue with the old-style 6.9 blocks to be careful of when using the block heater? Seems I've seen some comments before about the block heater cracking the block, which is bad news, especially in this weather. You may want to find out more about this problem first, just my opinion.

May Have Ebay Trouble W/ Heads

Yes, leave feedback on the last day, or wait til he has left feedback. Once he has left feedback, he can't change it or leave another one. Also, another note, if he sends it via Postal Service and doesn't have a tracking number, you can tell Paypal you never received it, and he has to prove he...

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Well, took a look today, and was sadly dissappointed. It was a F150 supercab, guess my friend didn't really know what he had. Turns out he bought it for parts to fix his 87 F350 Crew Cab, the C6 was shot and the F150 had a 460 and a C6 in it. So, no swapping for now, but I'll be keeping my...

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Well, that's part of the reason I'm considering the swap. My truck's TTB setup is quite sloppy with worn out springs, deteriorated bushings, and worn tie-rod ends, which makes steering less than perfect. My Bronco has the TTB with 170k on it, and it has always tracked perfectly and has never...

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Thanks for the great info, I'll have to go check it all out with a taper measure and see what fits.

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Ok, I was told it had a solid front axle, guess I'll have to check to make sure, guess it's possbile it's an 85. I've got a Dana 50 now, and even if I had the 44, I'd only swap to a solid axle. Is swapping to a solid front axle even beneficial, or should I just stick with the TTB setup?

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Well, my 88 has ball-joints, and my 87 did too, just didn't know how far back those went. If kingpins are stronger, then that sounds like the way to go. I'm planning on swapping both axles, front and rear, springs too. Doesn't the F350 have a Dana in the rear? I've currently got the...

    Solid front axle conversoin?

Ok, I've got a friend with an 84 F350 crew-cab that he's parting out. It has a 460 on it, which is toast. Does anyone know what axles this would have? Would it be worth it to swap out the 1-ton axles and springs with my truck? Anybody know if this is a ball-joint or kingpin front axle, and...
