    Just talked to 95_Stroker

He's doing OK and he/his family is safe. Apparently things got a little hairy Tuesday when the authorities moved the evacuation zone for the Casper Mt. fire to within 5 blocks of his house but even though the smoke made it look like a really heavy fog outside and there were chunks of charcoal...

    Help--Cruise control doesn't work.

For the last few weeks, my cruise control hasn't worked and now I'd like to fix it. Background info: I've got a 2002 F-350, 7.3 PSD, ZF-6. I replaced center high-mounted brake light, but that didn't fix the problem so what should I look at next?

    ? re: custom DP-tuner files

Has anyone had Jody write/burn a custom file for running at high altitude? I live above 6,000 feet MSL and most of my driving is around that altitude with maybe 20% being lower and 20% being higher than that. Is the altitude I run at something Jody can correct for to make up for the somewhat...

    Couple of Bio-D/VVO?'s

    1) Is it safe to add ~ 5gallons of peanut oil to my fuel tank or is there a better oil to add in? 2) Will a dino-D and VVO mix clean out the fuel system like Bio-D does and should I expect to need to change the fuel filter soon as I would if I ran Bio-D?

FS: carpeting for CC Superduty w/manual tranny and t-case

I've got the gray carpet I pulled out of my 2K2 Crew Cab Superduty with the ZF-6 and manual transfer case lever and since it's just sitting in my shed, it's going up for sale. Overall, it's in good-to-great shape, since I had Husky liners in it from the day I bought the truck and there's only...

AARGGGGGGGGGH--Problem with PML front diff cover

[Church Lady Voice] Well, isn't this special... [/Church Lady Voice] Some background: When I serviced my front differential 1,000 miles ago, I decided to replace the diff cover with a PML aftermarket unit for extra fluid capacity and the fact that it has a drain plug so servicing it should...

    Shock?

Since the stuff I have listed on Ebay is doing waaaaay better than I thought, it looks like I may be able to put new shocks on my truck sooner, rather than later. So, my question is, with a 2.5" leveling kit on the frontend, will I have to go with extended front shocks or are stock-lengh units...

    Edge leveling kit?

Is an Edge/Donahoe leveling kit pretty much as good as things get for leveling kits? I'm looking at their 2" mini spring pack kit and while I've heard good things about Edge, I'd like some first-hand impressions of ride quality/product quality before I go ordering one. I'm looking for (1) a...

    steering stabilizer?

Who makes a good aftermarket/larger-than-stock steering stabilizer kit for the SuperDuty? I'll need to get the shock and bracket kit, since the Rancho unit I've got on there now (the big one, not the OEM replacement) is banged up and leaking, so it needs to be replaced but I'm not sure what to...

    Alternate AIH delete plug part#

I just went to NAPA and picked up NAPA part #704-1048 to plug the hole where my AIH is. They were out of the specific "Dodge Cummins oil drain plugs", but that part number is for a generic M22x1.5 plug with sealing washer that will do just as well for our purposes.

    "Powerstroke" fuel filter cover

I took the plastic "Powerstroke" fuel filter cover off of my truck and since I cut the bracket off, I won't be reinstalling it anytime soon, if ever. So, here's your chance to pick one up cheap if you feel like experimenting one or want a spare for some reason. The cover is in fantastic shape...

    Silicone solvent?

Does anyone know if there's a solvent for silicone/RTV? I tried changing my front diff fluid yesterday, but there is one hex-socket headed bolt (closest to the inboard U-bolt) that the dealer buried in whatever sealant they use and I cannot get it out. I thought about heating the head of the...

    tailgate badge?

Does anyone know if the tailgate "F-350" (or F-250, as applicable) badge has locating pins ala' the fender badges?

    Oh boy...

I got my Wicked Wheel in yesterday so as soon as Maggie and I eat lunch, I'll be heading up to the station to install it. I think the truck sounds good now with the Tymar intake, but I've heard that the Tymar+WW combo is UNREAL and I can't wait to hear it for myself.

    UH OH--Amsoil ATF potential concern...

I just saw on Bob Riley's site that Amsoil Universal ATF is Dual Mercon/Mercon V rated. The Ford owner's manual I got says to use Mercon fluid in the tranny/t-case (I've got the ZF-6) but with a manual do I really need to worry about the dual Mercon/Mercon V rating of Amsoil. For the record...

    AIH?

Can anyone think of a reason to keep the AIH, even though I live in a cold climate, if I don't ever leave the engine running at low idle in the winter (it's either at high idle or off). I was thinking about removing the AIH for marginally better air flow, but if that'll cause problems, I'll...

    Removed/cleaned the intercooler today...

I got a wild hair up my arse today to tinker on the truck a bit and so I decided to remove the intercooler and intercooler tubes so that I could clean them out. I relocated my CCV some time (~3 1/2 years) ago, but there was still a noticeable amount of oil residue in the tubes and puddles of oil...

For those of you wanting to order a Wicked Wheel...

I talked to Sheryl @ Dieselsite today while placing an order and she's not sure when they're going to get more in. The site says they should have them after the first of the year, but she wasn't sure if that was going to happen or not. I asked for her to add one to my order but since I'm not...

    Amsoil in rear diff?

If I'm going to put Amsoil synthetic gear lube in the rear diff of my truck (3.73LS), do I have to use friction modifier?

    Seat removal?

How much of a PITA is it to remove the seats in a Crew Cab Superduty? When my new floor comes in I'm going to have to gut the interior to install it and I'm wondering if I can do it myself or if I should have help for this job. The back seat seems like it's more bulky than heavy and so could be...

    Engine build date?

Is there an easy way to tell what the build date of my engine is? I was reading over on TDS (yes, I still lurk there from time to time) that some of the 7.3 engines that went into 2K2 model year trucks might have forged rods and not PMR's, based on when the engine was built. Since my truck was...

Broken sensor wires on '97 PSD

I was over at Ramprat's house this morning fixing a GP relay wire and while the hood was up, Mrs. Rampy saw that there is another sensor on the driver's side cylinder head, just forward of the lifting eye that's broken. The sensor body looks OK, but two of the three wires going into it are...

    Floor?

Does anyone know a good source for a complete rubber floor liner? I'm tired of trying to keep the carpet clean (Husky floor liners help a lot) and I'm wishing I had gone with the "carpet delete" option from the factory. Hell, if someone were interested in a trade and was close enough to meet up...

    CCV mod with pictures

Step 1: Gather the required supplies. I used the scrap piece of 4” exhaust pipe from my MBRP kit, Rustoleum primer/paint, and the stock hose clamps/intake tubing from my Tymar filter kit. Note, unlike most of my other automotive projects, there was no beer involved in this one since I did...

    Optima battery info

When I was at the mall yesterday with Maggie (she was shopping, I was trying not to drop over dead from boredom) I went to the Auto section of Sears to check out their prices on Optima batteries. The salesman there pointed out that since Optima red tops are smaller than lead-acid batteries with...
