Cruise and high idle do not work and I don't have a cab brake light

It's a 2005 F350, it is a cab & chassis 4x4 standard diesel It does not have, nor has it ever had the third stop light up on the cab. I don't know what this truck was in it's former life, where the third light would normally be there is a piece of black plastic. Maybe it used to be a box...

So have I made a terrible mistake?

Long time IDI driver, I'm tired of working on my truck, I've had enough... So I bought this 2005 Powerstroke, low miles (85000). How screwed am I? Surely the 6.0 engine is not as bad as what I am being led to believe by these posts.

How much blowby is too much blowby?

How can you tell, how do you measure it? When do you say "well crap, its time for a rebuild". I have oil running down the oil dipstick tube with mist around the opening when the stick is in place. The truck starts and runs fine, but it sure leaves a mess everywhere I park. Just curious...

088 ATS Turbo missing a nut

Okay folks, Please take a look at these pics and tell me what size nut is missing from the stud that holds my turbo to the pedistal. I have developed one hell of an oil leak over the past week or so and I'm hoping this is it. I can figure it out through trial and error, but hopefully...

    OEM vs. aftermarket throttle cable

Did a search & got lots of unrelated results. I have to replace my throttle cable. The red plastic sleeve has broken off and the inner sleeve catches on it, so I'm governered at about 1500 RPM. The OEM cable is $95, but I see on autozone that they have one for about $20. In you all's...

RABS, cruise control, & LED bulbs

I bought some 3157 LED bulbs and my ABS light would come on and the cruise control quit working. Regular bulbs, no problem, LED bulbs, problem. Anybody know why?

    My cold weather thread

I have lived in Florida all my life. We have our cold snaps, but it almost always gets above freezing at some point in the day. Well, we're in Vermont for Christmas - been here about a week and it has yet to get above 25 degrees. My poor truck is covered in ice and salt. So far, I haven't...

    Replacing flywheel/clutch, etc.

Middle of next week I will be replacing the dual mass flywheel that is pretty much broken with a single mass kit. I have an ATS turbo with the cross pipe that runs below the motor right at the front of the bell housing. Do I have to remove that cross pipe? It's really going to be a pain to do...

Operating an IDI in cold weather

For some unknown reason we will be traveling to the Manchester, VT, area for Christmas this year. I have lived in Florida all my life and have virtually no experience with cold weather - I mean real cold weather. We get down into the twenty's around here sometimes, but nothing like below...

Why does a gooseneck tow better

I have a '92 F350 powered by a 7.3 IDI with an ATS turbo. Can anyone tell me why a gooseneck tows better? What I mean is that I can tow my 28' gooseneck equipment trailer with a 9000# tractor and a couple more thousand pounds of implement and the truck rolls along just fine. If I hook up to...

New IDI owner requesting travel tips

I'm a new IDI owner & new to this BB. I have a 7.3L in a 1992 F350 4x4 CC dually, with the ATS turbo kit. It's a nice truck and I really like it. My fuel mileage isn't great, like 12-14 MPG depending on how I drive. Its big & slow, just like me. If I was really concerned about economy, then...
