Yep. Some of them look close - with the "nut" facing the opposite direction, or with a non-identical pair (only one might work) with a Phillips rather than the 4mm hex.
I'm still looking. Thanks for the reply.
My 1988 F-350 has 2 headlight adjustment screws at the top of the headlight assembly. They have 4mm hex on the end and a ball with a plastic "nut" captive over it, together with a fine thread into the rest of the truck frame. The "nuts" cam into the headlight assembly to hold it in position...
Some years ago I told the wife I was buying $200 of parts for the Mercedes. She nodded. I rolled home with an entire 1979 Mercedes 300SD parts car - complete. Immediately took four good tires and wheels off it. Plenty of parts since then - one of the taillight assemblies I needed retailed...
@notenuftime:
Use stranded wire of appropriate wire gauge
Try to use appropriate insulation colors (or at least different colors) for ease in future troubleshooting
Use loom or route new wires with existing wiring to prevent pinching insulation and shorts
Leave enuf wire length so devices can...
@Sell-a-door:
If your key works properly then use it to unlock the column. If the starter won't engage when rotating the lock cylinder to "START", sometimes this can be corrected by adjusting the ignition switch position up or down where it bolts onto the column.
IMHO, unless you need the...
I replace filters and fluids on the schedule. All else as broken or worn. When I did the waterpump I would have replaced rubber hoses and thermostat as well, except the existing rubber looked so good and the thermostat was a half step beyond the water pump on this engine. I park my truck on...
Rod K,
Welcome, and nice looking truck you've acquired.
So first your overwhelmed with the vehicle; and now your overwhelmed with advice.
This is a great forum and most of the advice here is relevant and accurate - a lot of these guys really know what they are talking about. Bear in mind...
If your starter was cranked a lot and you didn't let it cool, check the electrical connector in wiring between the right fender and right valve cover. That connector may have melted and is now affecting power to the glow plug controller.
regards,
Jim
Along with a few others, I've always paid special attention to Bill's posts. I'm sorry he's gone - he was an asset here.
In general, I must say, I've been highly impressed with the technical rigor and commitment of all of you on this site. You all deserve an attaboy for the quality of the...
Did the slave replacement only.
Replaced just the slave cylinder. Slave clip comes off the transmission bracket with a large screwdriver as lever. Roll pin holding line in place comes out with a 3/32" pin punch. Bleed screw is a 5/32" allen hex - no nipple. New slave was Chinese aluminum...
Filled the reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid. The pedal pumped up without bleeding. I'm surprised there is no nipple on the bleed port.
Firewall is OK and there are no leaks at the master. Clutch pedal springs both up and down. I will (soon) need to do the heim joint mod. The plastic...
Hydraulic Problem.
Firewall was previously reinforced.
This morning I found some minor fluid leakage on the slave cylinder. Master cylinder reservoir was dry - there is a rubber funnel-shaped dingus in the mouth of the reservoir that stays full of fluid. This deceived me in thinking...
For some time, my clutch pedal would not immediately return to "pedal-up" position, mainly when shifting out of gear when coming to a stop. Pedal would come to about 75% off the floor and then pop to 100% off the floor after a few seconds.
I figured the problem was mechanical in the pedal...
Dielselkid,
To fix this you need some diagnostic equipment so you can measure, a wiring diagram for your ’86 F250, and a good description of the symptoms.
You mentioned that this problem occurred 10 years ago, what was the cause and the fix at that time?
Part of your previous fix was to...
List:
As an alternative using a new short version sender for repair:
In many cases the portion of the new sender actually needed is the "circuit board" inside the plastic box and perhaps the wiper. The box can be carefully removed from its steel base (for both new and old senders) and the...
Troy,
Check the brake fluid level switch in the master cylinder. If fluid level is low or switch or connector is bad, this will (also) lite ABS.

Jim
Proposed mechanism of failure
OBs and OP:
I don't have an overdrive system such as this, just a 5Sp ZF, so take this post with a grain of salt. I was interested in how the GV unit functions, so I took a look at:
If the GV unit works as such in the OPs truck, then let me propose the...
Center electrode of GP stuck in head
This problem is probably more common than realized. It happened to me as well. In my case the problem GP seemed to be coming out of the head normally with a 1/4" drive deep socket. I was horrified to find just the top portion of the GP had come out...
NutT: Yes you could, if you truly replace the factory wiring 1:1 (which at this point doesn't seem 100% certain). But it would be better to find and fix the real problem rather than bypassing it. If you need to run a new wire you will be tracing that route path anyway. Assume (as you have)...
To all:
In addition to all I did previously (see original post), I replaced the return line check valve from the filter to the return line system - this did not fix the problem.
But now I think I've finally got it fixed. I waited until dirt/grime affixed itself to the return line caps...
Additional Info/Questions based upon your replies
Additional Info/Questions based upon your replies:
The lift pump and its short rubber input hose and hose clamps were all replaced in 12/2012. I believe these components are OK - I did check them for tightness and leaks.
There is no fuel...
I Need Help Troubleshooting the classic Air Intrusion Problem
I have been fighting this issue on/off since Oct '13. After sitting 24 hours, truck starts immediately, runs for 1 second, then dies. Considerable cranking is required for restart. After this, truck starts immediately and runs...
I'm still fighting this air intrusion issue.
I had previously replaced all of my return caps/lines with a kit from Russ Type4. I also replaced all of the olives except the one at the strange "T" fitting near #8. I have tightened the brass nuts on the olive fittings until they stop against...
Well, anyone could have a screen name of TOYOTA or GMC TRUCKS, but they do all seem to say "Sponsored Post". I just need to train myself to ignore anything that includes that phrase. I could certainly live with a different color.
