Hey crew!
So, as my sig states. I have an old style non-WG banks turbo. It works great BUT the local shop here(very experienced in IDIs) recommended I get a valve cover from a '93-94 IDI Turbo because it integrated the CDR. Hence reduction of oil through the compressor on the turbo...
So was crawling under my truck a while back and noticed the rubber support that holds my carrier bearing was basically rotted out. floppity, floppity. No prob, got a replacement from Autzone.
I finally got around to installing it this evening and find out that the bearing is too small...
This is how my crazy brain works. Saw a '97 front bumper(intercooler holes) on CL for sale at a halfway decent price so decided to call the guy up(because I want to install my intercooler). While on the phone with him, he tells me he put superduty springs on his truck and the ride is WAY...
a few months ago my truck got a new moose pump and some new injectors. shop did a great job. they warned me my lift pump was leaking a little but I didn't have the cash to get it fixed at that time.
about a month ago, the truck went dormant for a while. when I got back to it, it had a...
In case someone is looking for a turbo setup, just saw this post on craigslist about 10 miles south of Modesto.
http://modesto.craigslist.org/pts/2055734267.html
My turbo just died. was told the rebuild kit wouldn't cut it and that I need the entire center rotating assembly. So figured a turbo would probably be just as cheap. Let me know what you have.
Thanks,
Mike
Okay,
I got a IP core that I was told came off a 7.3T engine. turns out the pump was a 6.9.
I sent the IP to Mel to be turned in to a Moose pump. When they were installing it today, they told me it was a 6.9IP(I'm sure Mel told me as well).
Previously I heard you can put a 6.9 IP on...
had my truck @ the shop the other day and they showed me where the fuel heater is leaking on top of my filter housing where the wire connects. I was told I need a new fuel heater but that it costs $150 from Ford.
Anyone know where I can source one @ a better price that won't be sub-par...
I have a Moose pump and some bb code injectors getting installed in November.
I'm getting the work done by a well respected IDI shop around here. Ken Imler Diesel. I had Ken look at the truck the other day to prep for the work. He asked what I was using it for (daily driving and towing...
Looking for a set of gauges and the pillar pod for my IDI. Good quality items. complete with wires/lines/lights/etc.
Let me know what you have or a good place to pick these up.
I'd like some bucket-style seats. I have a lead on some 2000 superduty seats if the price is right. rear bench, front 40/20/40.
I did some searching to find if they will fit but got mixed info. I know I'd have to drill a few holes for center support(no big deal) but will the factory...
found this link on CL. Looks like a really good deal if it comes with everything. in case someone's interested.

not sure if the muffler's been replaced or not but I pulled all the exhaust off including manifold-back. I cut off the hanger on the muffler but other than that it's complete. no holes. It also had an extension pipe so guessing it'll also fit a standard cab and a new extension could be added...
Just curious if anyone else has experienced some intermittent grinding/chatter feel/sound.
Symptoms:
1. can hear the grinding, can feel it a little bit in the floor board, but mostly feel it in the gas pedal
2. typically happens once the engine gets hot(pulling grades, after hard incline...
I got a "almost" complete banks turbo kit from a guy on CL. It came with the older hypermax dual guage which includes boost and pyro.
Unfortunately the pyro is not working and I'm wondering if I'm missing some wiring. I saw the red wire is listed as + on the back of the hypermax but I...
I had purchased a pre-sidewinder banks kit off someone on craigslist for ~$300. It came almost complete. Was missing a few brackets, had to rebuild the turbo, a fitting or two and the up/Y pipes were "customized" (aka kinda hacked) to fit around another transmission. After purchasing new Y...
doing my first fuel filter replacement and had a question to reduce getting air in the fuel.
I have a 1-piece filter that includes the water sensor.
According to the alldata manual, when replacing 2-piece filters, you should not pre-fill the filter with diesel fuel and simply let the...
I recently rebuilt my front calipers and bought new pads and rotors. I'm now experiencing some issues with the calipers dragging(when lifting the wheel, and turning it, I can feel the front pads grabbing the rotor allowing it to spin only 1/4 turn).
I noticed a few odd things during the...
Several months ago I was picking up some spare parts off a guy around here and he had an IP sitting in his garage with the lines still attached. He had written 7.3 Turbo on the box and said it was from a turbo engine. He had it wrapped up in a plastic bag(I'm guessing to keep the contaminates...
I've been running B5 in my tanks(cheaper than diesel) for the last few tank fulls. I posted on another thread asking if the B5 is retarding the timing at all and initial thoughts were that it should be minimal.
Well, my reduction of black smoke on heavy throttle has been reduced to no black...
So I've been surfing craigslist for a powerstroke or similar take-off 4" exhaust to put behind my "hopefully" soon-to-be installed banks turbo. I got a lot of good input from reading the boards and saw people provide input on 3" vs 4". I really want to ensure there's minimal backpressure so...
saw this on CL and thought I'd pass it along. If it's clean and complete, doesn't seem like a bad deal.
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/1699719024.html
I found an ATS 4" exhaust from a '99-03 SDuty CC and am curious if it routes the same way as an IDI CC.
I'm currently in search of exhaust for when I put my turbo on and if I can get a good deal on a kit from a newer rig and make it work, that would help. I don't mind doing some...
My rag joint has quite a bit of slop in it due to a leaky PS line so when I started looking for alternatives a Borgeson steering shaft seemed to keep coming back as the best solution(that or flaming river).
I searched for "borgeson 000985" online and on the last link, found Rye Valley Gear...
