1992 F250 XLT w/ATS 088 and Rough Country 4" lift... pinholed... CA. Trade?

I appreciate your sensitivity, but I'd rather move this truck than see it go to the wreckers. I came here instead of that other place for a reason :D

This truck is going to wind up at the wreckers if someone doesn't speak up soon...

1992 F250 XLT w/ATS 088 and Rough Country 4" lift... pinholed... CA. Trade?

Came out one morning some years ago, tried to start my truck and failed to turn it over. Checked my 7.3's oil and got coolant. I've been too busy to work on it and now I have no more time. Need to either sell or store. This is a great truck with tons of mods. No secrets, just a great truck that...

    Coolant out the GP hole

I didn't notice any coolant loss, but maybe it just started. Too bad, too. I've been using a precharged fleetguard coolant filter, changed ahead of schedule with my coolant. So far the cheapest parts truck I've found is $1500 and it has two leaky injectors and overheats. So not a great deal...

    Coolant out the GP hole

I was pretty sure that was going to be the answer. I thought about ripping the engine apart and said shucks, this is probably going to be a waste of time anyway

    Coolant out the GP hole

Went to do a compression test for no start, took all the glow plugs out, found out the cheap set doesn't fit the hole after all. Week later, I'd made myself an adapter with a grease gun whip and a 1/8 NPT to M10x1 sensor adapter. Checked voltage, turned the engine over one time to make sure...

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

well, you might try TDS, I know there's some 093 guys over there

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

Yes, you really have to get the front bolt on that flange in order to get the down pipe off of the assembly, from what it looks like on the diagram anyway. Once you get that bad mother, the remainder will probably be relatively easy. ha ha.

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

It's too bad nobody who actually owns an 093 has chipped in, I have to figure all this from the docs I've got The usual way to remove the turbo from what I've read is to use a 2x4 cut to length and hammer on it in the morning, hammer in the evening, etc. But if you manage to separate the up...

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

where can't you get them apart? from the turbo, or the two pieces of the pipe from one another, etc? The down pipe should come out easily once unbolted, maybe with some wiggling. The up pipe is often frozen into the turbo pretty hard. They gave it a friction fit, too. Some people grind down...

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

I don't remember what size my pedestal mount bolts were, but I had to pull the turbo off the pedestal first anyway because ATS 088 uses studs for turbo mounting. (I changed that...) Unless you mean turbo to pedestal, that IS weird. Probably GOOD though, because it will increase wrench clearance...

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

Aha. Well, if you are lucky you will be able to separate the two-piece up pipe which is only present on the 093, and that will make pulling the turbo relatively easy. I personally spent good money (over twenty bucks) on a Kent-Moore J-26987 wrench. This is a nice little J-shaped 9/16 which...

    Pushing coolant out the overflow.

Which turbo? I had a GRAND old time removing my ATS 088. That one? The turbocharger has to get removed from the up pipe, or the up pipe has got to get removed down from the turbocharger. The turbo is removed from the pedestal with an appropriate 9/16 wrench, either before if it's coming up or...

Anyone know where to get the IP to gear cover O-Ring? I bought an installation kit which comes with one but I don't want to have to do that again. I can make them with my loctite O-ring kit but that's a bother

    94 460 mpg

Well, there ARE less of them now, but they still crop up pretty regularly. Lots of them got scrapped in cash for clunkers, perfectly good running trucks except that they won't pass a gas station.

    Axle swap

The TTB rides nicer, the straight axle is better for four wheeling. If you keep the TTB make sure to get the energy suspension center pivot bushing, the original is almost certainly toast by now

turning up the fuel in a n\a engine

You're already starving your engine for oxygen. Now you want to feed it more fuel. You might be able to make a little more power, but mostly you're going to make smoke. At 3,000 feet you're already down 10% on oxygen. And at 6,000 feet, your truck is missing a full fifth of its air! If you want...

turning up the fuel in a n\a engine

It controls how much fuel you can deliver. Can you burn more fuel? If the answer is yes, it will make more power. If you are at any notable altitude, the answer is no. You can't burn it. All you can do it turn it into smoke. That's why we use turbos, to provide more air so's we can burn more...

    Flushing with distilled water

Check your coolant for voltage production; pop off the rad cap, and check voltage between a ground and the coolant itself, don't touch the probe to any metal in the rad. If you're making more than about 150mV then you're doing damage through galvanic corrosion. The EG helps retard corrosion...

    7.3 1988 van upgrades?

You CAN swap a five speed into a van. I am not sure where you get the clutch pedal. A very few vans came from the factory with a ZF. A wastegated turbo DOES make power down lower, but the ATS 088 makes its boost surprisingly low. These trucks already have so much low-end torque that you can...

Driver's side door-ajar button for interior and exterior lighting..

My truck is like this too, but I consider it a feature. No dinging or dome light drain when I leave the door open while I'm working, for example go back to load something. :)
