A buddy of mine has a 4wd 89 F350. It's an old wrecker, and he's taking the boom off of it for a log skidder. He want's $500 for it. Talk me out of it so the wife doesn't get mad lol!

I'd really love to get it and do a 4x4 swap on my 91. It's a ZF5 IDI truck, everything would be there. If the body wasn't shot I wouldn't hesitate.

Aren't these D60 axles selling for $600 plus everywhere? I've seen people asking $500 for just the engine from these. I'm thinking I could probably get my money back selling the strobe light off the wrecker body and scrapping the body.

What say the masses? Turns out it's got the same gearing as my 91. I trust the guy that owns it and he says it's only got about 90k on it. If I had the cash in hand I would buy it. I'm strongly considering a heavy scrap run to get the cash together. I'm sure the wife would be happy if I got rid of some other junk laying around....

Make the scrap run, get some money to put toward the purchase, and make the Wife happy with the "clean-up". Then, buy the truck and do your 4x4 swap. Tell your Wife that you will get much of the truck cost back from selling the un-needed parts and selling the rest for scrap. Tell her you are going green and helping "recycle". And yes, the 1989 D60 should be king pin - the ball joint D60 started in 1992. Good luck!

Alright, who wants to start the bidding on a set of rust free I beams with springs and dually hubs LOL

Yeah I've been needing to reduce my... "Parts inventory" aka junk pile. You know, all that crap I'll need as soon as I sell it lol.

Good news is doing brake jobs and stuff I've got a decent pile of short steel now.

Guess I'll be busy on Craigslist for a while.

yea, you should be able to come out ahead if things work out. parting out vehicles can pay, i just hate dealing with people not showing up and such selling parts.

i hope you have a decent sized yard! lol Although the wifey should appreciate the scrap clean up. mine did, and selling a couple things paid for my turbo.

I second buying it. (Apologies in advance to your wife). As for selling the parts... there is a reason I do not hold yard sales etc. Heck my wife has tried to downsize by giving away furniture on FB and the idiots are either hours late or never show up.

Good luck and ... this post is useless without pictures!

But I gotta clean up my TIG rig and git to it....turning a BUNN coffeemaker (commercial-stainless) into a water tank for an anticipated water injection setup on my 93 7.3 I...D...I...T.

Best o' luck...

OH....Oh....Oh yeah....just came to me. And you can quote me...fer whatever that'd be worth.

"There's nothing more satisfying to the soul...than taking another mans "good fer nuthin", and turning it into something good."

Hopeful? Helpful....Or Full-of-it... we shall see eh?

Buy it, part it out, get the parts either sold or on your rig or on the shelf, and get the carcass out of your yard and to the scrapyard. Make disassembly and disposal a priority. That will minimize the female angst.

Do it!!

Holy cow do it. You’ve got 1500 to 2000 worth of parts if you part it.

Edit: wait...it is 8 lug right? I don’t think the cab and chassis truck front diffs are different are they? It has to be c&c right?

Yes @laserjock c&c fronts are different because they came in drw 4x4 lol

I'm under the impression the only important differences are in the rear.

She's pretty rusty, and I was told the frame is bad.
