The Haynes manuals are decent (or at least the 2000 era editions I have, no idea if it's changed or not). You need both the F series manual and the diesel engine manual. Diesel engine manual is basically lifted directly from factory, though arranged weirdly.

The factory manuals are good. The paper ones are expensive, and worth it. They are available cheap on CD, and that's better than nothing.

what years of service manuals would be the same for the 7.3IDI.?. i have a 1989 model 7.3
found on "CD" 88-93 engine service manual/supplement 7.3 diesel engine wanna make sure this is what i need for looking up missing bolts etc..

look on E-Bay for Ford Diesel Manuals. CD and paper one`s available.
CD is good to print the pages you need so you don`t get your paper one all greasy.
here is one, have 2, the 83 - 87 and 88 - 93

Covers 6.9/7.3 IDI and the Power Stroke

Just realized the guy asking for the 93 has not been around, this is an older thread.
Poking around looking these up, found another supplement for the 6.9, be here in a few days. cool.
