Correct, the wiring I use is made by southwire, the small ring terminals and loom are made in Dallas, the copper lugs, heat shrink and copper bullet connectors I purchase locally from a small electrical supplier in San Antonio. Only thing that comes across borders is the relay, which is made in Mexico a few hours from me.

Something else that sets these harnesses apart is that each glow plug has a dedicated wire instead of the load going through eight different splices like it does in the factory harness. This way there’s only one connection at the glow plug and one at the 2/0 copper lug, it costs way more to build it this way but you’ll never overheat this design and there’s a fraction of potential failure points in the harness.

And you haven't even counted the cost of that blue loom you put on each wire. And incidentals like wire ties...

The CCD push button glow plug setup is nice. Took the factory jack holder off the fender and mounted it in its place. Now to get it wired up

I’ve been scared of push botton glow plugs because I’ve heard you can accidentally weld your plug into the head, especially with others occasionally driving my truck.

Is there a way to use that CDD relay and still have a safety net?

I’m heavily considering sending my fomoco one back now ...

@Thewespaul am I able to use your harness with oem relay? My harness went up in flames right before the fusible link and started this whole debacle for me

Where did you hear that?

That is not impossible, but extremely improbable.

It's more likely to be caused by a controller that goes whacky, and stays on all the time.

I believe you could leave the glow plug button pushed in for 5 minutes, and still not weld the plugs into the head. 10 seconds, or 20 seconds, or even 30, is not going to weld those plugs into the head. Not even if you did that every time you started the truck.

In fact, I believe even a 10ga wire going to the glow plug, would burn up before the plug could weld into the head.

holding the button too long can make a plug fail and make it (even a beru) stuck, but not welded.

200A steady current once they warm up, divided by 8 glow plugs, is going to be about 25A per plug. 10ga wire should be able to handle that indefinitely. I've heard that the plugs cannot handle glowing much longer than 10 seconds, so the plugs will probably fail open before anything else gets damaged.

You guys are a good marketing team....

Ordered a kit from wes! And am gonna send my FoMoCo relay back

His relay and harness are CHEAPER than the OEM relay + harness. Only $50 more than I paid for the OEM relay.

Well worth $50 to not have to think about that ******* wiring ever again. Also like keeping the money out of the fat cat's pockets haha

ZD9's are the glow plugs to get right? I've got 8 new ones sitting at home
