Deep within the matrix.
Yes, unless they are personally doing something i take it with a grain of salt. If you have any questions pm me. My idi has been loving it. I run synthetic, non synthetic, hydraulic, trans, gear oil, anything
Awesome. It'll be a while before I move into the alternative fuel mode again. Right now, I've got a '90 7.3 n/a I've been daily driving for a bit more than a year. I'm averaging about 700 miles a week in it. And I just picked up an '87 with a gear vendors OD unit and a Banks turbo. It's ugly as sin and wanders the road like a drunken unicyclist, but the engine appears to be in very good condition. I've gotta get my daily totally dialed for longevity and reliability and then I'll start shooting for the more performance/alternate fuel mods. I plan on spending A LOT of time on this forum. I love this place!

Awesome, yes this forum is great for these trucks there truly is none better. I’m the same way I’m all about longetivity. I’ve added an external coolant filter with sca replenisher, external 15x30 oil cooler and a frantz oil bypass filter

I have a 94 IDI with 304,360 miles on er... she got the stock garret turbo and runs great. I had it 6 yrs and been running straight WVO the whole time. I did replace glow plugs w the the Z 9s and pepped up the starting. What I havent done is replace the Injectors... i think its about time i change the exhaust and any tips on good injectors I would appreciate. Stock IP, changed the down pipe to one i got on Summit Racing i just need to change out my exhaust... any suggestions ?
I would also like to get a Small Centrifuge to do about a barrel at a time of fuel so any tips on that are also welcome.

As far as the exhaust I found 3 inch off a 2002 psd in a parts yard. Have to modify the verry top of the downpipe but that's about it. I also cut my exhaust elbow and welded a 3 inch in it so it never chokes off to the 2 1/4 inch that the stock elbow chokes down to. Actually seen better numbers on the old boost guage from it too. Next thing for me is the wicked wheel from r&d.

What wmo forum do you use? I've been wanting to make a centrifuge. I recently purchased an old medical one hoping to convert it over to clean wmo.

I sometimes post in the alternatives section on here. Check out my thread “super easy centrifuge” that’ll give you good ideas. In the thread I show how I used an aluminum semi truck tank bought off craigslist for my filtering tank. It has 1/2npt ports on top with an aluminum pipe on one going to the bottom so you can use it to suck from the bottom and return from the top without having to weld anything. Also the sending unit hole is exactly the same size as a 55:65gph fuge so you can use self tapping screws to bolt it right on!

I did WMO in my 95 7.3 for a long time and I never did get it to work out correctly. I mixed with RUG and ran it through 2 centrifuges (for speed). I even tried heating it in the end to thin it out even more. Even though I pulled out a TON of sludge, I never could get it clean enough. If the oil had ANY color left in it, the tips of the injectors would carbon up within about 300 miles. I tried all sorts of timing changes and even bought a tune from someone. I know I changed the timing over 100 times and cleaned the injectors AT LEAST that many times.

I also ran it in an old Mercedes IDI. It did MUCH better but eventually coked the rings on one of the pistons, which made a TON of blowby. It eventually cleared up but I decided to quit until I can figure out a way to make clean, clear fuel. Maybe the newer diesels with a double injection event will do better than my single injection 7.3.

You have to let the oil settle out for about 2-3 weeks then only pour out the good oil until you start to see a brown strand entering the flow. You can collect all the rest and settle it again... eventually you will have some you dont even want. I use that to get rid of my gooher problem

With a centrifuge that’s not needed but without yes you would

I'm kind of thinking that making sure you 'burn it out' once in a while would help - even on diesel, it seems like giving my IDIs a good workout once in a while helps with it running better - and by good workout, that means hooking a big trailer to it and giving it a lot of pedal; taking a big hill or two.
Not letting the EGTs get high probably would let the carbon build up more than if you can get it to burn off.

Also wondering about the gasoline - it should thin out the oil, perhaps make it burn hotter(or at least quicker)... I don't know.

I know I have about 10k miles on my truck with zero issue. I just centrifuge and cut with rug. But my Truck sees constant loads as I use it for transport work so it’s always working hard. I do shut it off on diesel and start on diesel till warm then switch tanks

Yes sorry!! Rug= regular unleaded gas. Sometimes I’ll mix it as much as 35% rug my theory is it helps keep it clean

Ok, i get it... been running oil for 6 yrs now with no issues , i filter my oil through 2 micron filter cloths , then it gets pumped through a Redline Veggie pump with a spin on 1551 napa filter, then pumped into the fuel tank in the truck which also has i napa gold racor filter and 2 stock fuel filters and lastly a small inline glass window filter before it hits the IP. One picture is veggie oil in the line and the other is diesel.
