im wanting to turbo my 92 and am wondering what you all think about factory vs aftermarket kit
There's a very simple fix for that... Just unplug the hose!T\hit the gate and its all over.
It effectively disables it. At least on the banks, the diameter of the wastegate is pretty small(3/4" or so?), so even 40 psi of backpressure would only exert 17.5 pounds of force against it.Unplugging the hose doesn't disable the WG, it just keeps, the boost pressure from helping the exhaust pressure to overcome the spring.

I've done that to both my ford factory turbo and Banks sidewinder/TE06H turbos. They run quite nicely.
'Course, maxing out the fuel also helps a lot when it comes to making an IDI /go/. Just be aware of smoke and watch your EGTs.
I'd say that the Banks turbo is slightly smaller than the Ford Factory turbo, it can spool slightly quicker... Piping is probably easier too.
Nothing wrong with the ford factory turbo though; I still pushed 250RWHP through it, same as the Banks.
Just saw this on Facebook, it's in his bronco and boost over 60psi, yet so many questions left unanswered still lol
