everybody has their favorite. pic a name brand thats for disc brake wheel bearings and stick with it.

I was running Lucas Rad-n-tacky but come to discover a high temp grease from Mystick and I gotta say it gets excellent reviews, Walmart stocks it and it's cheap and yea, I like it!

I used the Mobil 1 red synthetic stuff. Seemed good.
Pretty much anything will work, if you use it right.
Buy I would use synthetic.

Just checked about 20 timken bearings on the shelves. All stamped USA on cup or cone. One thing to watch out for is TIMKEN has import bearings, but the part number has -imp on the end.

That's what I always used, even to repack RV trailer wheels when I was in the RV service business. Never a problem. Chevron synthetic is also good.

Just finished the pass side, true all my new Timken parts are stamped made in USA and bearing cages are METAL. I didn't notice the "imp" after the part number, so I got what I got.
I wasted more time running around and looking for parts made in USA and I gave up, honestly I should have purchased Auto Zone's 'Duralast" brand bearings, probably the same thing.

BTW, the old Timken bearings looked decent HOWEVER > one race had some serious pitting, more like craters in it! I caught it just in time.
Some of my original Timken parts said made in Japan and one said Bade in Brazil.

Many years ago, I used to service the Federal Mogul bearing plant in Lititz. It was neat, watching all those CNC machines spitting out bearing parts, and American workers putting them together. It got sold, and last I heard it was closed. Makes me sad!

X2! Timken USA not imported ones, have timkens on the truck and im very pleased with them. I replaced out old worn out bearings on our boat trailer about 2yrs ago with china garbage and they only lasted a couple thousand miles before they were looser than a damn trashbag lol. Put timkens on and havent had a bit of trouble... pulls alot better too.

.....Even some spicer stuff says made in china...lots of U joints.

Bought 2 Spicer U-joints for my van. Packaging says crosses made in China, balance made in US. Well, Chinese needle bearings, inserted into Chinese housings, in the US, perhaps?

Will be watching them closely after I install 'em.....

The saddest thing that I have come to realize in this corporate greed/ global mess is that companies realize that the "made in USA" stamp sells so they try to utilize that. The problem lies within the fact that they use cheap materials to offest the labor cost so now you have the choice........buy the cheap version that's made here or the China version that sadly is a better product. I get so irritated even thinking about it......
