Stupid sterling brakes !

Ok in my previous thread I was posing about the parking breaks hanging up.
I pulled the brake drum off of my drivers side rear, it was really stuck on I had to turn the star adjuster forever to get the drum loose enough to get off.
I sprayed everything down with brake cleaner,I wiped the brakes and the inside of the drum with a rag I put the drum on, then adjusted the brakes so they just barley scrape the drum but the drum still turned. I put the tires back on and pump pump and pump the brakes I floor it backwards and hit the brakes to try to get them to adjust. The passenger side wheels would skid, the drivers side would not (the drivers side it the side I pulled the drum on ) so I thought I needed to tighten up the drivers side some so I tightend them with the star on the rear of the drum. I pull foward and they firmer but they do not skid like the passengers side still, so I tighten the drivers side some more about 3/4 of a turn, they start to lock up again like they did before ! So I thought if I loosen them 3/4 of a turn it would bring me back to where I was before but they still lock up.
My neighbor asked me what I was doing and I told him what I just typed and he said I need to change the fluid (been sitting for 2yrs) and I need to pull both the rear drums and adjust both of them so the brakes scrape them a little then drop the truck, pump the brakes a few times floor it backwards and
slam on the brakes And to not touch the star wheel after that !

Is this right? Could someone please help I am about to shoot myself lol !

What are you trying to accomplish? You say you got it to where the driver's side lock's up like the passenger side, then backed them off and they still lock up. Is this under hard brake pressure or just trying to slowly stop? I don't get why so many people have problem's with their rear brake's, it's a good set of brake's, adjust them at oil change's and they (at least both of mine) stop well and have great pedal feel.

I am trying to stop the drivers side rear brakes from dragging.
I am not good with describing things ...After I pulled the drivers side drum off and put it back on and drove it the drivers side was extremely weak the brakes were not putting nearly as much friction on the drum as the passanger side was. So I tightend the drivers side brakes up with the wheels and drum on, I pulled the little plug from the back of the drum and tightend the drivers brakes with the star. I drove the truck and the drivers side was still weak compared to the passangers side better but not quite there. So I crawled back under the truck and tightend the drivers side a tad bit more, I go in the truck put it in reverse and it drove fine I put it in drive and the drivers side is dragging now. So I crawled under the truck and lossend the brakes via the star wheel, I drove the truck the drivers side brakes were still dragging so I lossend it some more and they are still dragging.
I am trying to get the rear brakes to the point to where they dont drag and they both sides "brake" with an equal amount of pressure so I dont hydroplane/skid myself into the other lane of traffic.

What did you do with the park brake cable's? I think I read a post where your park brake was stuck on.

So I thought it was, after I pulled the drum off and put it back on I applied the parking brake and it did not do anything the drum still rotated no prob. with the parking brake engaged. I thought to my self o well I have a auto so I really dont NEED it I am just trying to get the truck so I can take it on the road.
Idk what's causing my problem, I thought it was my parking brake because when I lifted the parking brake pedal up it seemed like it would free the brakes up (parking brake pedal sags). Hopefully gonecrazyi will be able to help me out, this is my first time tearing into brakes. I am trying to do everything my self I am learning as I go.
