don't forget you have the arrowcraft aa-4 series option as well,like i used;
http://www.arrowcraft.com/products.php#adaptors

Ahh thanks alot man! I forgot all about that option which isn't a bad way to go at all; especially if you are wanting new parts.

Which kit did you go with? and do you know what the prices are?

I see like kit 100, 250, 400, etc but I dont know if thats just the name or the prices for each?

Im still trying to decide if im going to do it or not. I feel bad cutting up the bed on my truck and changing it all around when I have a 45,000 miles queen here and I will probably never be able to replace what I got with another like it.

N I know alot of people will suggest keeping this one factory as can be, and cut up one thats high miles and cheap.

But part of me is thinking that is just asking for more problems to come up, and I dont want to be the guy that has a rare or high valued vehicle but yet doesn't want to take it out of the garage because afraid it will get dirty ot scratch kind of thing you know. While some rare expensive car vs this isn't really apples to apples; still the same idea applies.

What good is it to keep it exactly, or be afraid to use it or beat on it when thats exactly what it was intended to do. It was built to be used, beat up, dented, ran hard; hell if you want to put a d60 up front, make it a dually conversion, or lift it than who cares just enjoy the damn thing you know. Especially this truck is a 1990 which is the same year I was born and is alot of ways like me. I love it being manual windows, manual doors, bench seat, 5 speed manual, manual transfer case, etc. It was it was born to work; so part of me wants to make it like me and how I want rather than just keeping it original as can be for the sake of doing the "right" thing you know!

Decision, decisions...

i just used their aa-4's (they were arund $350 iirc) no kit.i swapped in a true drw pickup axle out back.it was well over a grand total convert.
if you don't haul heavy or tow large trailers, then don't do it.those are the only advantages is more weight to spread over more rubber.massive help when hauling heavy and added stability for towing.
everything else goes to crap srw to drw.traction, economy, and ride comfort all degrade compared to srw.maintenance expense goes up too.more rubber to buy and maintain.
id suggest having good reasons to do it (really need it) or just be happy with your truck as she is.srw.
hope this helps.

if you're doing real hauling with your truck, I'd suggest holding out for a true pickup dually rear and box. conversion adapters is OK for the fronts, but will play hell with the wheel bearings in the rear.
here's a couple of pics with the fronts with OEM dually hubs, SRW and arrowcraft converted SRW.

you forgot one more thing. there's nothing like a DRW pickup when little cars have an itch to "challenge" you on the roads. more than once I've been able to brake check a small car in a merging lane situation. if you are brave enough to attempt to sneak past my dualls, you'd better be fast or it's going to hurt :D

You have any idea how much the rear dually adapters can hold from arrowcraft? I know you just have the fronts which im sure are plenty strong for the front, but I guess thats why you went with a true rear from a regular DRW so you didnt have any of those worries for the rear?

Any reason you would try and get the rear bed from it to instead of just using the conversion fenders, just in case I wanted to go back id have my original bed? I assume the conversion fenders will be cheaper and obviously they are just for looks being on the bed. It would have to get painted either way unless I just got super lucky and found a drw bed in my color which I doubt will happen.

actually, the conversion fenders cost more money in comparison to the OEM's. the true dually box is built specifically to handle the dually doghouse. at least when you destroy a OEM doghouse, it's easier to find and pay for a replacement.

So it would actually cost me more money and more work to do the conversion fenders vs just buying an entire drw bed?

iirc the arrowcraft conversion fenders are roughly $700 ea.

I guess ill find out when they email me their prices today. I see why they don't list prices now lol.

If thats the case then I guess the most id be buying from them is maybe front adapters or some nice dually wheels.

Trying to find a drw axle and bed now seems alot better of an idea; can you just buy the oem dually fenders from somewhere or for the price would it be better just to look for a whole used bed? Now I know why I post threads to get help from the big guys on here that have been there and done that!

If I ever get around to finding a dually axle, I'll sell my adaptors off of my crew cab.

Yelp. The front adaptors will stay BC they look lime the OEM ones I've seen.

Were they just on the truck when you bought them?

Most seem to want to stay away from just adding them to the rear srw axle; but im am curious as to how much they can hold and how much abuse they can take.

ZWilson07,

If you are looking for front Dana 60 dually hubs I have a set available in Lawrenceburg, IN. Bought just the hubs to convert the Dana 50 then bought a complete Dana 60 to convert the truck in my sig. So I have an extra set. PM me if you are interested and we can go from there.

Nick
