I just picked up a junk f250 with a good t19. I was thinking about swapping it in because I fear my e4 will one day leave me stranded, although it seems to be working wonderfully. I don't mind grabbing gears .. e4 has a taller 4th correct? My truck is a '94 idit ext cab 4x4.

I weighed in on my way home ; 13,400 total. :) The truck barely knows it's back there.

That T19 is a good trans..but yoiu'll be screaming down the road with it....keep the E4OD and work on getting a spare E4oD as you'ld have to change drive shafts n clutch pedal and trans tunnel cover and and and...

Ill just sell it then :D. I got the truck for $250 but it's trashed. Sadly it is headed to the scrap yard.

If I had to choose between them I would pick the E4OD. Highway RPM's are brutal with a direct-geared tranny.

I had to load it backwards so it was very rear-heavy.

I think i could use some of that chrome. The truck looks in pretty decent shape from the pictures

What's it like driving the auto with the od off all the time? Isn't that 1:1 ratio like 4th in the stick?

Body in decent shape? Hard to tell from the pics.

I'll be in the market for front fenders, front bumper, hood and bed in the near future.

E4OD, get a good sized cooler with a fan and temp switch, keep it cool and it'll live a long life.

In my f250 I went from e4od and 4.11 to t-19 and 3.54. It made a real truck out of it. It seems to tow much easier now. It costs LOTS to make and e4od bulletproof, a t-19 is dang near free. With 4.11 a 4 spd would suck, but 3.54 works just fine.

I'd rather have the E40D any day. Keep it cool, they last long enough. I've had abused E40Ds last over 200k miles. I have pulled very heavy with them also. Those T19 shifters are some damn clunky and have so much play in them even tight as new. I want nothing to do with a non overdrive manual gear box either. That trans makes no sense to me with the ZF5 available, now that's a trans.....
