Damn fine looking...must be happy to be able to drive. Very nice work and you should have years of trouble free service from that hopefully.

Way to go!

hey Heath-
how about adding the pics and install notes on the IC in Rob/F350camper's "let's talk intercoolers" thread?
congrats. this is a seriously noteworthy update on IC install milestones on our IDI's .
Thanks Calvin. I really should take some more photos of the new mount for the valance and lower trim peice. It replaces the factory peice, but I didn't take any good photos of it. Also, if there is anything that isn't clear or could be better let me know and I'll make some changes. It wasn't a quick as I hoped it would be, but overall, not a terrible project.

Agreed with Calvin there. I honestly didn't think it was possible to mount a full-size intercooler on an '80-'86 front end without removing the grille. Very ingenious solution to that issue!!

Of course, THANK YOU for the updates ;Sweet Hopefully everything goes smoothly from here...shame I can't get out to the rally to see/hear the truck for myself!! Maybe in a couple of years...
Tim, thanks for the comments/encouragment. It's been a rough road at times. The issues I had last year with this truck really were a punch in the gut. I'm really pleased with how the truck turned out and especially how the IC project concluded. It's really hidden and you can't tell the front of the truck was modified at all. Man, I hope you can make a Rally down the road. It'd be great to hang out, talk trucks or just BS.

Looks Professional there Heath, Real nice Job! That truck deserved it. Now get some miles on the thing so you can get the bugs worked out before the Rally. Are you planning a test tow with the camper?
Thanks a ton Darrin. Not sure if you could see it or not, but in that shot of my buddy Reid, you can see a 4BT in the background. He's the guy I was telling you about. He's putting it in a Scout with a T18 and a Ranger overdrive.LOL I'm hoping to get a battery and a water filter for the camper tonight so I can pull the fifth wheel to a local campground this weekend and she what happens. Nervous about it as I know it'll make or break all my plans and work towards making the Rally. But, it's do or die time.

Thanks a lot Jared. I hope it results in a much better result this time.LOL

Wow that turned out really nice. Should pull that 5ver just fine.
I certainly hope so. I'm planning on putting a battery in the camper tonight and camping tomorrow. We'll see how it does this time around. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Very nice.;Sweet
Thanks man. As long as it gives me trouble free hauling of the camper, I'll be very pleased with it.

Yeah, I'm very happy about it being done. Just nervous that it will kick me in the nuts like it did last year.

David, thanks a lot man. I appreciate it.

I'm going to press my luck with it tonight. I'm hauling the camper from my in-law's to get it ready to camp on Saturday. 30 miles should be a good test. We'll see. Yup, in two weeks, I'll be sitting at the campfire shoot'n the bull with ya man.

Well, the 6.9 passed the first big test this weekend. 200 miles of hauling the camper without any major issues. I hauled it from my in-laws to Greenville. From there to the campground. From the campground to Camping World in Bowling Green for some new tires. I'm starting to have some confidence in this rig.

Power is certainly improved after the rebuild, "typ4" cam, and Moose Pump/Injectors. The Rodney Red is my new best friend. I'm really impressed by it's effiecency. Max temp in 90+ degree weather was 210. Before I was always dancing on the edge around the 240+ mark. Once the T-stat opens, that's as hot as she's seems to get, with or without the A/C running. EGT's aren't an issue (Thanks Mr. Intercooler) and maxed at 850. Much better experience than last year. Anyone having any cooling issues, I highly recommend a Rodney Red. Well worth the price in my book.

The thing has blown a few fuses (turn signals inparticular) and the stupid fuel heater plug in the filter head is cracked and leaking (not the o-ring the actual plug). I've got to get that stuff sorted out, but no major problems. I'm stoked.

Thank again Darrin.

Forgot to mention, both of the fuel senders would intermittantly give me greif last year. Now, however, neither one will work, plus, I'm not sure the stupid FSV is switching over either. A blind one tank 9 hour trip won't be fun. I'm going to see what I can find to replace them (Ford or otherwise). Any links to non-Ford options would be greatly appreciated.

My 84 fuel gauge acted funny and FSV worked sometimes and it ended up being a bad ground at the FSV. I cleaned the connections at the plug and rust and corrosion in general at frame. No problems in 3 yrs.

First off, a big thanks for the excellent documentation! Loved following your build and I'm gonna miss it in some weird way... ;Sweet

If your max EGT was 850, do you think you have some room to turn up the pump? :sly
