Be prepared for people saying you shouldn't use a toggle switch, blah blah. Accidentally leave it on blah. But if you do keep the toggle, make the UP position be OFF since you could likely bump it with your knee

yep. i am ready for that. good idea on switch position.
i think it will be fine. i will have the WTS light tied in like the tech article says and also the switch lights up when the accessory that they power is in the on position

i should probly run my plan for hooking it up by you guys just to make sure i don't burn my truck down.
there are 3 poles on the switch, a power post, a post to connect the accessory to and a ground.
obviously ground post goes to ground. i am going to use the same ground that i used for my gauges.
the acc. post will connect to the same post that the tech article says to use.
the only thing different with my switch is the 3rd post. so i was thinking that i could connect that post to the ignition post on the gp relay so that way the switch gets power only when the key is in the on position.
if ^^^^ makes sense does that sound like it will be hooked up right?

You definitely want it to only be on when the ignition is on. There's a writeup in the tech articles that make it very simple to do this. Just follow that and you'll be good.
And I'll be one of them. I'm only saying it because I want to save you a set of glow plugs. Do whatever you want.
I have 3 switches in a similar location to yours, but they are much shorter toggle switches (not nearly so long as yours). In the last 3 years one has been inadvertently switched on (and I did not notice it for a while, one runs glow plugs, one an electric fuel pump, one my vegetable oil system) FOUR times. Thats only 4 times in 3 years, so not much. But that could be 4 sets of glow plugs. Momentary switches are super cheap insurance IMO. That way you have to hold it on for the glow cycle duration, and it can't stay on without your finger holding it there. They're denoted OFF-(ON) switches, as opposed to OFF-ON. I have a momentary switch on my glow plugs, always have, and have never left it on accidentally, because I can't. My glowplugs are 3 years old, and I just tested them an all 8 are still good.

that switch is quite aways away from anything. if my knees are down there..............well, if my feet are in that area............well. the switch will glow when the plugs are on and the WTS light will be on as well.

I'm not gonna tell you not to use the toggle. I do think that a momentary toggle would be better suited for you though.

Its really easy to add a big bright blinking LED that will grab your attention too.

If you go with mcmaster, regular shipping is usually at your door in a day or two (I've never had it take more than 2 days, almost always 1, but it could be my location). Also, you can get as many different switches in as many configurations you want for all sorts of stuff later, and all your switches will look exactly alike, which you may not like, but I do.
