Did you use the right filter? Was it on all the way? Obviously something wasn't right! Any damage to the filter itself? Ie: is it intact?

remove what's left of the filter and check the pressure relief valve in the filter head to see if it is working properly. if so...then panic:eek:

Not that it applies to an IDI, but one time I hooked the lines to the remote oil filter on my Harley backwards. It ran for about 20 seconds and then BOOM; the oil filter exploded all over my left leg...........rather violently. I'm thinking a stuck pressure relief valve could have the same results.

we put the 6.9 heads on.6.9 manifolds.6.9 fuel pump.new gaskets.the reason the 6.9 stuff was put on cause the 7.3 stuff was rusted to hell.the manifolds werent even solid.they were eatin buy salt.the truck the 7.3 came out of was a northen truck.4x4 f350 dually is what it came out of.

You guys bored the head bolt holes out then? The rest should bolt right on but the heads aren't interchangeable without work: for 6.9 heads on 7.3 you need to open the holes, 7.3 heads on 6.9 need sleeves...

if that sucker popped in 20 seconds , it seems to me that you have cylinder compression finding it's way into the oil gallery, No matter how you slice that it's not good
